Did you not give her your number so she could contact you?  If you gave her a cell number WITHOUT a voicemail, it's conceivable why she couldnt reach you to cancel?  Did you contact her since then? Did you give it a couple of days in case she tried to reach you back?

Is she a reputable provider?  Perhaps you would have been ripped off anyway, so maybe she actually did you a favor by not showing up?

Did she screen you?  If not, maybe she got scared?  Maybe she is a newbie too?

At any rate, she most likely would not have flaked on the sole basis of your being a newbie.

Better luck next time.

Is it common for a newbie to be stood up by a provider?

Don't take it personally in any event.
Find a more reliable provider, and refuse ever to have sex with the one who stood you up! LOL

for a variety of reasons. But primarily because no-shows are quite frequent. The providers on the boards often complain about no-shows from clients and how inconvenient and rude it is. They're right, and it goes both ways. The ladies on the boards are mostly reputable, considerate and self-respecting. I expect that they give plenty of notice in the event they have to cancel. But many providers, at least here in the SF area, will just not show, or show up several hours past the erection.

The reviews are the best protection against this and any other potential problems with providers. The reviews tell you who's reliable. Naturally, no-shows are less common with a provider you've already seen.

As for being a newbie, providers do rely on intuition to decide whether you're a risk. It's possible that the newbie vibe can be misinterpreted as Law Enforcement or unstable. I remember having less success in the beginning. That was due mostly to my own inexperience; not knowing how to read and judge an ad; not knowing about reviews and how to rely on them; my own dull intuition during a phone screening.

The biggest key to not being stood up is to see providers that are reliable.
