My local Planned Parenthood clinic says they can test for warts through a urine test, which runs counter to what I've always read. Anyone know if this is possible?
I was at the doc's earlier this week for my 6 mo testing and I still am surprised at the doc saying, "Don't you use protection? Because if you do, you don't need to test - you're safe". While I know that doctors don't know everything, I still find that not only ignorant to think, but not the best thing to say. Using condoms is smart, but not fool-proof, and besides one must take the most caution when the responsibility towards others is so great.
Maybe a google search might provide an answer to your question?
A blood test is the only way to test for most STDs when there are no symptoms present. If you have symptom(s), a doctor (i.e., dermatologist, internist, gynecologist) can tell you right away if you have it. If the doc is not sure, then he/she will most likely take a sample and send it to a lab for testing.
