I can't believe I'm again not seeing my ATF this weekend. It seems pointless to have a weekend and not do what you enjoy with it. It also is sobering to realize that I have spent nearly $10,000 in the past year enjoying my weekends. I'm not angry, bitter or remorseful about the money spent. No body pried it from my fingers or conned it out of me. I spent it of my own free will chasing and enjoying the fantasy.
   Reality is raising its ugly head now. I have an ATF whom I'm obviously smittened by. Several other "friends" who delight me whenever possible and the need for about $15-$20k more per year income to keep living this way. I have never been the type to spend big on vacations because it seemed silly to me to drop big cash for fleeting experiences that soon became "memories". Ironicly that is just what I have done.
   This is truly the greatest "hobby" one could find. It can also be a cruel mistress(pardon the pun). For now that I have tasted this ambrosia no longer will I be satisfied with meatloaf.

here I am months later after my ATF retired; I too miss the ambrosia, but meatloaf is currently keeping me alive!

I've never cared much for ambrosia but absolutely enjoy a good meatloaf now and then.
Perhaps a lesson in what I'm saying somewhere.
Maybe its time for some "plain" fruit salad.

The only part of your thread that should disturb you is the 'smittened' line. Remember that it is a business. You may get along great with your ATF. But there are probably many other guys she gets along with equally well.

Unless you have a way of increasing your income by the amount you state, then you should cut your hobbying back by 25 to 50%. Go for quality over quantity. I think most of the providers realize many of us are not doing as well economically as we were in the late 90's and will understand and not take your less frequent visits personally.

I had a very popular provider that is out of my price range say something to me once. She likes the new guys to the hobby.  Why because they are not broke yet.  I think it is a sad thing when a person pays more than they can afford.  I have in the past.  My new motta.  If they make more money than me they are not my type.

I am in the same boat as you so I don't have any magic words of advise.  My ATF discounts me and I still can't afford to see her more than every other month.  I wouldn't try meatloaf if you are happy with ambrosia.  Eat less often and then savor it when you get it.  If you think a reality check would help, ask her if you mean anything to her.  Maybe that will convince you it is time to move on.  Otherwise you are stuck until she retires or you run out of money.

15-30K after taxes is a big income jump by the way depending on what you do.  As others have said you may need to limit the outflow rather than count on more inflow.  At your outflow level may be a mistake to consider this a "hobby"

What's with you guys! Until now I've had nothing but the utmost respect for the members of this community that post, but when it comes to $.... y'all seem like whimps! Paying fo sex certainly has it's advantages (many - i.e. no strings, etc.) but there are other ways to go! Hello! There are many more horny gals out there than any of us realize! They are just better at keeping it to themselves and need to be seduced. Money works but there are other ways! The internet is an incredible tool for finding people and making contact. I'm in the same financial boat as many of you and I am just beginning to explore non-pay options via the internet and elsewhere! We should share resources and develop stratagies to deal with this dilemma instead of passively lying down and bemoaning our fate! This market can be controlled! The solution lies in using the big head not the little guy for this! He comes in later, once the hook has been set! Appreciate others thoughts on this one! Ladies too, if you please!

If I were a Used Car Salesman I'd agree with you. But most of us don't have the bullshitting skills that are required to get the free stuff that you talk about. Or for those who do, they don't want to waste the time and effort - Charlie Sheen could get all kinds of free stuff but even he knew this was the way to go.

And some of us like really, really Hot Chicks - I can ask 100 of them out and I might get 1. I might get none.

My only problem with the original poster is that he let Emotions enter the equation. It's a business to the ladies - never forget that. And he needs a lesson in budgeting his entertainment dollars.

And no offense, but coming to this board, made up of guys who are willing to pay, and trying to convince them to go back to the Trenches and try to get it the old fashioned way, is a waste of time and doesn't make you look as bright as you claim to be.

I'm not trying to convince anyone to go back to old unsuccessful ways of doing things.All I'm saying is that there are a bunch of bright guys posting here and they ought to be able to work together to find ways of utilizing existing resources (i.e. the internet) to get their needs met without developing self destructive addictions or depriving themselves. The Ladies have needs too, over and above monetary survival. Let's solve this problem rather than bemoaning our fate and letting uncontrolled market forces run amok!
