I'm late 40's. Went for a physical. Told doc I'm starting to have the typical prostate thing. Getting up to Piss, Less Cum, Not shooting as good. Checked it out, said it feels normal. Asked about Flomax. He said I should at least try Prostate Massages First. Don't see providers enuf to engage in this with them, and don't know if I want to. He said they can do it in office (expensive, time consuming). He said wife can do it, or you can buy a special device to do it. Questions:
1) Is this helpful. Does any one have experience with it? 2) Is this something a wife will / should do? Mine has a medical bacground but can give a shit about my health. 3) Can this be pleasureable? 4) Ladies, would this be offensive to do to a 47 year old guy with a nice tight ass?
1) Is this helpful. Does any one have experience with it?
I am certainly not a urologist, but I do have a medical background as well. I am not aware of prostate massage being considered a remedy for BPH. It is possible that the process of "milking" as it is sometimes called, may help to reduce congestion if ejaculate is built up due to reduced flow, but even this benefit may be dubious. If a man does not ejactulate for a period of time, the body tends to absorb semen and recycle it, thus dealing with any problems related to retained semen.

After your post about her neglige, I would be surprised if she were willing to do this for you LOL
3) Can this be pleasureable?
Definitely.
4) Ladies, would this be offensive to do to a 47 year old guy with a nice tight ass?
That would depend on the provider. It wouldn't offend me at least.
While I cannot speak to prostate massage as a remedy for BPH, there are a number of lifestyle changes that can help.
1. Diets high in zinc, butter, and margarines tend to increase risk of BPH. Men who eat diets rich in fruits have a lower risk. Modifying your diet and cutting down on fatty foods, while adding fruit to your diet may help.
2. Saw Palmetto, an herbal extract has been clinically shown to improve urinary symptoms and urinary flow. However, long term efffects have not been established.
3. Ingestion of alcohol and caffeine has been shown to irritate prostatic symptoms. Reducing or eliminating these may reduce your symptoms. Additionally over the counter medications that contain pseudoephedrine are known to worsen symptoms as well.
4. There is often a tendency for men to limit their fluid intake as unrinary symptoms become problematic. This only worsens the problem, and can lead to other complications as well. It is important to maintain adequate hydration to avoid dehydration. Men often experience relief from symptoms by implementing a schedule in which they empty their bladder every 2-3 hours regardless of whether they feel the need to urinate at that time or not. This prevents overfilling of the bladder and can reduce urinary retention.
5. Finally, there are now several medications on the market that can help with BPH, Flomax has perhaps been the most effective to date. I suggest you speak with your doctor about consulting a urologist if your symptoms do not improve.
(But go ahead with the prostate massage if it floats your boat. It might not improve your symptoms, but it can still be a great deal of fun with the right person.)
