Report Post v. Ignore List: A Primer

Here are my thoughts on the Report Post and Ignore Member List tools of the TER forums. These are only my opinions and do not reflect those of the TER site.

First, a little background. Both of these tools were implemented a short time ago along with a series of other changes (e.g. removal of TER volunteer mods, TER's re-dedication to enforcing the terms of its Terms of Service fairly and unilaterally, implementation of the Like Post functionality, limiting aliases to just one per member, etc.). The purpose of these tools is to help promote civil discourse among the various forums and attempt to reduce, if not eliminate outright, all the drama and fights that permeated TER's forums.

In this regard, both the Report Post and Ignore Member List tools have achieved their goals, albeit one tool more magnificently than the other.

The Report Post tool is by far the better of the 2 tools, as it empowers TER members to assist the TER admins in policing the forums for unruly, rude, slanderous, troublemaking posts and behavior. As there are a limited number of TER admins and an almost unlimited amount of posts, the Report Post tool helps TER admins focus immediately on areas of delinquent behavior.

The Ignore Member List tool falls short of its intended purpose, while its goals are admirable nonetheless. Ignoring other members contradicts and defeats the purpose of having a forum in the first place, namely a place where ideas can be discussed civilly and respectfully. Just because a fellow member is ignored does not mean that his post cannot be seen by the TER community at large. One cannot help police the forums and report rude, slanderous, troublemaking posts if one cannot see them from those on an Ignore Member List in the first place. Finally, the Ignore Member List tool only serves to be a divisive measure, rather than inclusive, by inadvertently allowing cliques to form.

TER is a slice of life, at work you do not want to be social with every one and some discussions can get pretty hot.  In the neighbor hood same thing.  This is (in my mind) probably as far from real life that most of us get that is why we are not signed in by our names.  What we do and participate in is an illegal activity, a very enjoyable one at that,(most of the time).  I might be wrong but If I put you on ignore I do not see your posts, but if you do not put me on your ignore list you can still see mine, to make your board cop /board cheerleader role fulfilling I guess.  I Believe that TER is for us to participate with providers and report findings along with advice based on our experiences.  If you are not participating with providers, and or not willing to post reviews or helpful advice not just banter, other than your membership fee (if your paying one)  what right do you have to even be here?  You might see this as harsh, but I see some one that is doing a lot of posting without contributing anything meaningful for the rest of the members to benefit from.  Just so you know I have not put you on ignore, and I might agree that reporting your post as worthless might be a better way to go. No rudeness here. No slander. Being as respectful as I can. Definitely not trying to make trouble.  Just giving my opinion to some one else's opinion.

The great thing about these fuck boards is that very very few folks take them seriously.  But then there are some (hint...guys like you) that honestly believe they bring something of value to the table.  I'm sure they honestly believe in their quests (see your posts this morning trying to rally the troops), but in most cases all you're able to do is lean over to your rubber doll and whisper to her "Aren't I the best board cop and NON-paid member here at TER?".  And perhaps you even installed some software in her to tell you "You're the best".

So thanks for letting ALL of us know that you know how to push the button to eliminate a post you don't like.  Very mature of you...hell even prepkid is more mature than an old man like you.  

And you are challenging folks to a battle of wits?  Nope...easier to hit the "RAP" button and cry to mommy that those mean folks are challenging my intelligence.  Do I sense a pattern here from your grammar school days?

Yep...I remember those well.

And yep...the kids that needed that type of affirmation apparently have transcended into their adult life with the same lack of self-esteem as is continuously demonstrated by our "self appointed" hall monitor :)

And I alway felt they were a joke (one they didn't participate in mind you) back then...and nothing has changed the way I see these misfits today.  And at one point each of us probably felt sorry for those kids, but we learned quickly that they just are bitter at the world for their shortcomings.

And lest we not forget...we are all UNPAID TER members.  Unlike the PAID escorts.  Have you seen an unpaid escort?  What would that make her?  A regular civvy gal perhaps.  Nope...the hall monitor needs to remind ALL of those gals that they are just whores...

Misogynist is the adjective that best describes some folks.
