It's more pressure for the ladies, whereas the guys think it's cool and just have to watch their shaves.  Apparently, it's showing flaws that can't even be spotted normally with the naked eye.

I wonder if pornographers will have to invent androids now just so they could use high-definition?

The industry has come a long way since the grainy black & white 8mm film loops.

As a (former) porn producer, I can say the migration from VHS to DVD was 10 years off. Where is it now? Probably about the same lag. I personally believe that privacy issues are bigger than format. The web would have taken "off" years ago if identities could have been obscured. That is where we all messed up.

I am not on a rant...or at least I don't think I am. Just CYA.

It's entertainment.  If High Definition shows too many flaws, then turn it into a version of animation.  Digital "airbrushing" is probably wiser than makeup or camera angles, and this would be acceptable if it were done in an obvious and artistic manner rather than in a devious manner.

Porn is a fantasy, not reality.  As such, high definition porn that is part real and part animated would be interesting.  Why not use a "science fiction" format?  Sci fi films use a combination of straight film and animation all the time.  No, I'm not suggesting filming a woman's encounter with an animated dildo named "Donald Dick".  But I am saying that pornography should consider itself to be an art form and not just documentary filmmaking.
