During the few months that I've been active on this board, I've noticed that women occasionally note that they are, or have been teachers.  I find this fascinating, because it seems to me that many of the skills that it takes to be a good teacher are the same as those that it takes to be a good escort.  I thought of this again, when that poor woman in Florida got busted in the TBD debacle.

So, I'm wondering... how many of yall are, or have been teachers?  And, what level did you teach?

Over the years I've taught everything from preschool to college level.

Hope everyone's well.  I just finished a tough seminar week.  Glad it's over...

Love,
Anne

Teachers--because of their empathy and energy--make the best salespeople.  Of course, they would be great escorts, too!!!  It is, after all, a type of sales (selling yourself/skills).
However, teachers are afraid of losing licenses, so you don't get too much abundance in the field---or do you?

There used to be an old story with this punch line "if you don't do it right, a teacher will make you do it over"!

Those who can, escort.  those who can't, teach.  Those who can't teach, teach gym.  (With apologies to Woody Allen)

I teach young men why they can get further on their knees then with a fast car. Slow down! Kneel down!

Not that there's anything wrong with escorting, but how sad that our teachers are so poorly paid and respected that by comparison escorting is the preferable profession.

Do any of you former teachers provide one-on-one tutoring for the ones of us that are slow???

Great thread Anne,

I have taught early childhood music education.... I have been a trainer in the corporate world and am working on a social work degree.   Oh and 15 years of cust serv management.

LOL...We are so many more things than just a body.  And the greatest gentlemen are the ones that respect that.  I have discussed everything from the "Art of War" to Machiavelli(sp) to Star Trek and beyond with my clients.  And am always even more surprised and honoered than they to trade opinions with them.

As for the sadness of our teachers being under paid... I couldn't agree more.  And it isn't just teachers... While it would kill my income.... this is something that should be done for the sheer joy of it.... and the things that utilize our brains as well as our bods are what SHOULD make the top dollar...

But not in this lifetime.

Be safe, be happy and be INFORMED!

You can also apply the same theory to nursing...Many of the same skills are used. I had a patient tell me something the other day that made me laugh to myself. I was giving him a nice backrub, and he told me the "i had missed my calling; this is the best backrub I've had since Vietnam." I had to smile to myself and think if he only knew ! ;)

when I was a young college student, was a Teacher's Aide in a combined Kindergarten and first grade classroom.

I have heard that many women in this profession have backgrounds in nursing, too.  Both teaching and nursing are jobs that are traditionally held by women, so I'm not surprised that many of us have those backgrounds.  But, I suspect that we also tend to be nurturing types of people, and this profession is another venue for us to use those skills... not to mention that the pay is WAY better!  LOL!

After you have had your finger up someone's butt pulling out fecal impactions...nothing is degrading!  (just my theory on why someone who is a nurse becomes a hooker) LOL!  Besides its good practice for Prostate Massage.  hehehe
