I received this email and wanted to pass it along in case it's not a hoax.  We can't be too careful.

   Forward To Your Female Family

To all my female friends: It was about 3 weeks ago, I was at the Shell in Auburn getting gas.  It
was about 11:30 p.m.  I was approached by 2 men and 2 women in a car.  The man that was
driving asked me "What kind of perfume do you wear?" I was a bit confused and I asked him
"Why?" He said "We are selling some name brand perfume, at cheap prices." I said I had no
 money.

He then reached out of the car and handed me a paper that was laminated, it had many
perfumes on it.  I looked quickly at it and gave it back.  I said I have no money.  He then said it
is OK, we take check, cash, or credit cards.  Then the people in the car began to laugh.  I just
got in my car and said no thanks.

Then I received this e-mail yesterday, and it sent chills up my spine.

Please read this.  It is not a joke.  - Wendy MCP

Here is the e-mail that I was sent: Dear Friends: I know not all of you are women that I am
sending this to, but I am hoping you will share this with your wives, daughters, mothers,
sisters, etc.  Our world seems to be getting crazier by the day.  Pipe bombs in mailboxes and
sickos in parking lots with perfume.  Be careful!

I was approached yesterday afternoon around 3:30 pm in the Walmart parking lot at University
Drive (Des Moines), by two males, asking what kind of perfume I was wearing.  Then they
asked if I'd like to sample some fabulous scent they were willing to sell me at a very
reasonable rate.  I probably would have agreed had I not received an email some weeks ago,
warning of a "Wanna smell this neat perfume?" scam.

The men continued to stand between parked cars, I guess to wait for someone else to hit on.  I
stopped a lady going towards them, pointed at them, and told her about how I was sent a
e-mail at work about someone walking up to you at the malls or in parking lots, and asking
you to SNIFF PERFUME that they are selling at a cheap price.

THIS IS NOT PERFUME!  IT IS ETHER!  When you sniff it, you'll pass out.  And they'll take your
wallet, your valuables, and heaven knows what else.

If it were not for this e-mail, I probably would have sniffed the "perfume." But thanks to the
generosity of an emailing friend, I was spared whatever might have happened to me.  I
wanted to do the same for you.

PLEASE PASS THIS ALONG TO ALL YOUR WOMEN FRIENDS &FAMILY!  AND PLEASE BE
 ALERT, AND AWARE!!

Ladies this happened to me yesterday and I didn't smell the perfume either, thanks to this
 email!

This is true!  Believe me, I know!  I was over by Big Lots in the parking lot at lunch time when I
was approached.  So either day or night, it does not matter.

There were 3 guys together when I was approached.  I called the police when I got back to my
desk.  Like the email says above, LET EVERYONE KNOW ABOUT THIS.  YOUR FRIENDS,
FAMILY, COWORKERS, who ever.  It helped me.

The first thing that popped in my head was this email warning

Lets all be safe in 2003.  Sedagive.

Watch out!!

That happened to me and they took my kidneys after the ether knocked me out!!

They distracted me with the HIV infected needle they stuck in the gas pump.  I had to pull over at the gas station because some gangbangers had shot up my car because I flashed my lights at them after seeing them driving around with their headlights off.

Forward this message to everyone you know and Bill Gates will buy you a free trip to Disneyland.

You know something you are not funny.  As a women I am not suprised that there are people who feel the need to poke fun at very dangerous situations.  Let's just hope that none of your female relatives fall victim to this scam.

Thank you for your caring, thoughtful response.  As I said in my original post, I didn't know if it was a hoax or not, but I thought it was plausable enough to put it out there just in case.  Since then, I was privately emailed the link below.  Sedagive.

snopes.com is an excellent source for info on internet hoaxes but type in "hoax" at your favorite search engine and you will find many others.

those of you who were offended by twisted's flippant response should try to understand that spreading these foolish stories does more harm than good (though frankly, anybody who would buy perfume from somebody in a station wagon at a convenience store probably deserves.... oh, never mind)

please, everybody, use your head!!! if there were bands of evil perfume sellers attacking convenience store patrons, don't you think you would have read about it in a reputable newspaper, heard it on the radio, or seen it on TV?

ANYTIME you read about a horrible crime, amazing discovery, or cure for (type in your favorite disease) in a FORWARDED E-MAIL MESSAGE.... ask yourself "gee, i wonder why CBS, NBC, ABC, FOX, NPR, nor the Times/Globe/Herald/Chronicle/Tribune/etc haven't heard about this yet?"

He cracks a joke and you publicly wish harm on his friends and family?  Gee that's nice...

His point (which you obviously completely missed) is it's not a dangerous situation.  It's an urban legend.  It doesn't exist.  Don't be so uptight, it's not even real.  It doesn't happen.  Chill out.

Male Date Rape Drug

Police warn all male clubbers, party-goers and unsuspecting pub regulars to be alert and stay cautious when offered a drink from a woman.

A new date rape drug on the market, called "beer", is being used by females to target unsuspecting men. The drug is generally found in liquid form, and is available almost anywhere. "Beer" is sometimes used by female sexual predators at parties and bars to convince their male victims to go home and have sex with them.

Typically, a woman needs only to persuade a guy to consume a few units of "beer" and then simply ask him home for no-strings attached sex. Men are helpless against this approach: After several "beers" men often succumb to desires to perform sexual acts with women to whom they would usually not be attracted. Men often awaken after being given "beer" with only hazy memories of exactly what happened the night before, just a vague feeling something bad occurred.

Some unfortunate men report having been trapped in a familiar scam known as "a relationship." Apparently men are easy victims for this scam after "beer" is administered and they've been sexually approached previously.

Please! Forward this warning to every male you know. If you should fall victim to this insidious "beer" and the predatory women plying it, there are male Support groups in most towns where you can discuss the details of your shocking encounter in an open and frank manner with similarly-affected, like-minded guys.

Not too long ago I read an LA Times article about a Rio scam where bikini clad women had men lick the tops of their breasts which were treated with the date rape drug. When the men woke up, they had been robbed. Urban legends sometimes give ruthless people ideas. Just be careful.

The act of poisoning or drugging someone by tricking them into ingesting a fatal or narcotic substance has been around for centuries.

Some might have made up stories about it recently by adding aformentioned 'stolen kidneys' embellishments, but the act of surreptitous poisoning probably has existed before this hobby!
