I know this might be a dump question, but can somebody explain how PAYPAL works.  Ive seen on some provider's websites that they require a deposit to secure an appointment.

It's a way to send money over the internet instantaneously without revealing your identity to the person you are paying and vice versa.  However you still have to give your credit card or bank account information to paypal.

in the adult entertainment industry.  I think many a lady will soon cease to use it.  I will stop at the end of the month.  As of May 12th, Paypal has announced to its members that it will no longer honor transactions that have anything to do with the adult industry.  Any monies paid there after is at risk and Paypal will most likely keep it.

Does anyone have information on another alternative in such venue?

PayPal leaves a clear paper trail between you and the provider. Your idenity and the providers idenity become a matter of public knowledge. Paypal will provide contact information to either party of a transaction if the tranaction is challenged. This includes email address, phone number and address. Additionally credit card/bank account information is available to any one with a court order.

Sending it back I could understand. But what right have they to keep money they don't want to send on?

http://www.ecount.com/ Make sure that you sign up for their pre-loaded debit card though, for you only able to use it for internet shopping. But, I will tell you, it works. I had one of my clients send me a pre-payment of my fees, and I went to the atm and used their pre-loaded card.

The downside: when you first sign up, you need to wait in the mail for an address verification code, in order for you to bump up your starting amount of $100.00 to $500.00 (after verification of address is set). I am not sure of any other services that offer anything like paypal, but if someone has any other suggestions, please list them :)

My one & only experience with paying an advance deposit resulted in the service calling my home number to get additional information beyond what was on the Web form. As in, "Hello, we have Anon 0'Male attempting to send $. If this is correct, please give us the number on the back of the card."

Good thing I was the one who picked up the phone.

I gave up on the meeting at that point, since it seemed to be ill-starred. And have not considered meeting anyone requiring a deposit since then.

I do not believe in sending deposits. I had an in depth discussion with a beautiful young woman that I would love to meet sometime, but we will never have that meeting because I won't send a deposit and she won't see anyone that doesn't send one. I've been stood up and I have never cancelled a confirmed appt. I have cancelled a tentative date 2 days prior and before we set an actual time.

As soon as I see send me a deposit, I look elsewhere.

At least, for myself and the girls that I know, do. I only used ecount for the first time last week, and it worked out great! :) My client was insistant on using it, to show that he was serious in us meeting (note: he missed 2 appts. with me previously, due to late minute travel for business), and yes he finally made the appt. :) I know that most of the traveling girls, do use paypal or some sort of service. For local girls, such as myself, cash is always the way to go. But, I am glad to have that type of service as an alternative, for times when cash is not readily available for the gent :)

You guys are correct, as of May 12, TER will no longer be accepting paypal.  They have banished adult sites.

What are you going to use as an alternative?

TER seems obvious but how on earth would PayPal know about a provider? The personal information bugaboo pointed out in a prior post notwithstanding, aren't you just emailing money between private parties?

It would also seem appropriate that a concerted effort be made to rag on PayPal for it's new policy. It's none of their business what I choose to spend my money on.

Although it can be quite tempting.  I cannot tell you the amount of $ lost in accomomdations that ended up being a waste of time.

There are a lot of gentlemen that do pay for services prior to meeting and prefer it that way.  It is not a requirement, but more of a convenience for some.  I would like to continue to offer that convenience with the utmost discretion.
