Molluscum contagiosum is a harmless but potentially very embarrassing viral infection of the skin.
Check out
    http://www.aad.org/pamphlets/molluscum.html
for the American Academy of Dermatology's information on it. It is usually spread by skin-to-skin contact. Left untreated, it goes away by itself in 6 months to five years. Seems to me all hobbyists and escorts ought to be aware of this pest. Was I alone in never having even suspected its existence??

Are you and other gentlemen telling providers up front about these conditions? If so, how have the reactions been? I just think that whatever condition that can affect another person (regardless if fatal or not), should be brought to the attention of whomever, you or anyone may see. That also goes for providers, who may have this or some kind of infection. I think that what I am trying to say is that, after the disclosure, people should be given a choice as to whether or not, they want to still go ahead with the session.

Thanks :)

Mel :)

Very good question Melinda. I would definitely refrain from seeing anyone if I had any type of contagious disease and expect the same courtesy in return. I recently had to postpone an engagement due to a cold.

I would certainly not knowingly expose someone to any infectious condition I had. In fact, I sadly suspect I may have to cancel some eagerly anticipated sessions I have scheduled for a month from now, unless I get a clean bill of health from my dermatologist.

Simple Molluscum Contagiosum is a relatively harmless nuisance, but can be associated with HIV - particularly when the lesions are large, persistent and widespread.  Prudence would require an HIV test for anyone in this hobby who develops these lesions. Due regard for others would also demand that you abstain from close personal contact with others until the benign nature of the condition has been verified.

and then I read posts about the dangers of oral sex. So then I thought I would be safe sticking to massages and HJ's -- and now I read this!  Now just to be on the safe side -- anybody know of any dangers from masturbating (besides the hairy palms and insanity that my mother always warned me about)?

Masturbation can and will lead to premature stress on the tempomandibular (sp) lobe and will always harm the way you perceive the ones you deal with on a daily basis. It may lead to irreversible psychosis. Unless this is practiced with plenty of lubrication and with a partner.
