hello everyone! i just wanted to share my experience of paypal with as many people as possible and figured this would be the best way to do it.i am a provider with links to paypal on my website. today, paypal.com closed my account without warning. they cancelled all the transactions i made earlier in the day and told me that i had to removed ALL paypal content fom my website because it was of an "inappropriate" nature. upon doing so i would receive credit for my purchases that were made earlier in the day. i could then withdraw all of my money from the account using my paypal debit card or they would transfer it to my bank account thus my account would be permantly closed. i followed all their directions and did everything they wanted me to do including removing their logo from my website then the went back on their word. they told me it would be 180 days before i received a credit back to my account and if i had any compliants i had to address the compliance department. if the paypal account had been nearly empty i wouldn't have been so upset but i had over $300 in it that i may have to wait for for 6 months. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE all providers discontinue your use of paypal and spread it around to as many providers and hobbyist as you know! i am in serach of a new service to replace paypal, once i find one i'll let you all know.
New rulings came into effect in that Paypal would no longer honor any account that catered to the adult entertainment industry. They sent out notices via email to all their clientele back in February I believe.
So yes, do, do, do get your funds ASAP and thank your lucky stars if you do get the contents of your account in 180 days.
As for other avenues, I am searching myself, but nothing concrete enough as of yet.
A friend of mine had used this service to collect a deposit from a client. In her correspondence with the client through PayDirect, she used the word, "appointment." A few days later, I sent her some funds to help her through a difficult period, and PayDirect would not let her remove the funds from her account. She was told her account had been closed, and PayDirect used verbage similar to that used by PayPal in the above post. The funds were credited back to my account in a timely manner, but it still meant my friend could no longer use PayDirect. I don't know what would have happened had she had any funds in her account.
This is the new "Policy" of Paypal... close to a police state as one can get!! . I suggest using c2it (Citybanks) . I hope we can watch paypal go downhill from here, as the adult segment was a major income source for them.
"PayPal has updated its Acceptable Use Policy to simplify the policy on transactions of adult items. After June 12, 2003, PayPal will no longer process transactions for adult items through the Mature Audiences category on eBay.com. As a result, after June 12, PayPal will no longer process payments for adult items anywhere on the Internet.
PayPal strives to find the right balance between serving our community and minimizing our financial risk. We feel that exiting the Mature Audiences category with a clear and consistent policy for all adult items best achieves this balance." (In other words...Bullshit.)
I'm sorry if they're holding your money, that really does suck. However, there is a way around the policy of no accounts connected with the adult industry.
Get an e-mail that is not connected to your site.
Let's say I'm a provider. I'd just get an e-mail with say "AOL" under "[email protected]". It's not connected to my work as a provider, and they'll never know. I just saw a provider, and that's how she got around it. A friend saw a provider whose e-mail was connected. He got a personal call from Paypal to confirm the transaction.
I've never had a problem (whoops, just one, duplicated withdrawls from chking acct., but corrected mistake immediately) with NETELLER. Normal transfers are free, but I now have a credit line of $3K if I need cash instantly which they will charge a fee depending on the amt. requested, normal transfers (3 to 4 days from any bank acct.) are free! I've used it for over a year with only the above problem, but that was corrected before I even knew they had made a mistake.
