I actually grew up around those guys!  But did not start using the term until the 90s!  Funny!  I got it from the youth culture and hip-hop/skate culture both of which feature a lot of smokers.

But most of terms I use are Rasta- the milieu I chose in HS.

Sully I havent heard anybody use that term in30 years. Thought it was a lost piece of slang. Remember it from Negril in 72. Took it back to Miami with me but in never caught on except with others who had been there.
