That explanation could be applied to any of the regional boards yet many of the other boards appear to be more active than NYC.
Not long ago, a gent posted on Boston for suggestions as to who to see on his upcoming trip to NYC. I replied with the suggestion that he should also post this request on the NYC board. He explained that he already did but didn't get a response. His post on the Boston board drew a response or two within a short time. This is not a wider issue. This is the main reason why the regional boards exist.
Rik, help me out here. You've seen the light.

Why is TER's NY Discussion Board so poorly attended? The Big Apple has tons of fantastic providers, plus numerous incall places with a nice choice of white, black, Russian, Latina, and Asian ladies. NY has Julie's.
Does another website offer a NY hobbyist Discussion Board that is better attended than TER's?
"Local Moderator Needed."
Many of the regional boards became much more active when a person from the area became moderator. When people post to a board and don't get a reply, eventually they stop trying. Many of the new moderators are trying to "stir the pot" a bit. More posts bring more people to the board. More people to the board bring more posts and so on. Unfortunately, this probably won't happen if everybody waits for the other guy to make the effort.
Just my opinion.

and are posted on the General Discussion board.

I used to encourage everyone to interact on the General Board more, leaving the regional boards to nothing but provider ads. I wanted everyone to be able learn from and take advantage of the exchange.
Much of the feeling came from your same frustration. The SF Board was deader than NYC, and I was jealous of LA and SD who had a nice little community going.
That's the real key, regional community. Once I realized how important that was, I volunteered to moderate the SF Board. It's been a month or so, now and the activity there is starting to pick up quite a bit. Provider ads still dominate the space, but at least we're seeing more members getting involved. SF has the challenge of competing with the long established and popular sfredbook, but our community is beginning to come together.
At the very least, I'm there to find answers for people when questions arise, and compel and keep the interaction alive.
I totally agree with thirsty. A local moderator makes all the difference.

Good question. Some theories:
1) NY'ers whop can afford most top quality providers are very busy, and not a lot of free 'net surfing time;
2) We're New Yorkers...we know everything!
3) the board is rife with troll/scam ads from flake providers (for a while there this Alex character's pimp/driver was posting an ad every two days) and it doesn't offer a lot of topical discussion...
I know, I know, not part of the solution is part of the problem...just my 2cents...peace
Hey guy,
Don't know you, don't know any of the gals from the site you mentioned...nor do I know the guy you referred to, but I believe this stems from a post on the LA board by AsianKid. IF that's the case...why the hell don't you get a little more exposure to your views by posting directly in his thread???
Just a thought.
When I first read the above message by FREESPEECH, I miss his sniping remark about AsianKid's advocacy of MontrealGirlFriend in the LA board. Thanks for greywolf to point that out.
FREESPEECH, being a New Yorker (all of your reviews are from NY), I understand that it is hard for you to shred the cynicism. There are indeed a lot of ads in the discussion boards from flake providers. That's why messages posted by other hobbyists are important for the Regional boards. The messages might be in the form of denouncing a provider as rip-offs; providing links to her reviews or websites or advocating or confirming the merit of a provider. All these three functions have been provided by moderators one way or another. It is also what makes regional boards valuable in spite of the National board.
In a way, advocating or confirming the merit of a provider is supplemental to a review. It is a way to create dialogues and share good experiences with fellow hobbyists. In order for a regional board to thrive, fellow hobbyists have to be willing to share info and participate in the dialogues. It doesn’t have to be a heavy philosophical discussion as those recent threads in the National board. Witness some of silly posts in the LA board.
I have personally taken up the task of providing links to reviews or websites in several regional boards. Although I live in LA, I am interested in those other cities and love to contribute to that local community albeit in a small and mundane way, as I have gained much from others.
Finally, I have provided the links to AsianKid’s latest word on the subject of his advocacy of MontrealGirlFriends below. Thanks to AsianKid’s prompt review of Kristy of MGF during her visit in LA, I got to enjoy the companionship of a beautiful and intelligent lady. All the gives and takes posted on this subject make the LA board vibrant and interesting and that is how a regional board becomes relevant.
Good luck to you all, New Yorkers.
