Your post is not private, but that in itself is not a problem. If LE wants the TER database or any other database all they need to do is get a warrent to produce records. However even if they obtain your post and personal information the likelyhood of them acting on the information is nill. The do not have the time or money to track down the 50,000 people that post on TER and TBD. Now if you are a principle owner/partner/shareholder/officer of the board in question you may need to look over your shoulder. If you are an advertiser on the board you are also likely to draw attention. Anyone profiting from the board in large numbers is likely to be a target of LE attention. The small fish they could care less about. Assuming you don't walk into a hotel room with a lady cop sitting on the bed. Just to be safe do a strip search befor showing the donation.

I am confident that LE has all of TBD computer records.

I am worried that they could get to me because of a post here.  I always thought that that was not possible; however, I don't know for sure and am very worried.

If they can identify us from a post (or a review) I can see them knocking on my door.  Somebody with real computer knowledge please tell me that this is not possible.

Thanks

Really guys, lets be realistic  here. With TBD and those running TBD, we are talking serious, heavy duty charges. (Invented, IMO, but serious charges all the same!) We are not talking about misdemeanors. Do you really think LE is going to spend time chasing down every anonymous handle on these boards for something that is a) not even legit and b) if it were, would be a misdemeanor offense carrying a lil' fine and not much else in most states?  Not to mention the fact that even the news stories themselves say straight out that no one can be arrested simply for POSTING here... you must be caught IN THE ACT of committing a crime!

The sky is not falling on your heads, at least, I don't think so... and this is just an attempt to be a note of realism in the midst of this panic. Let's not PANIC guys, let's look at things as objectively as we can.

My two cents...

Quotes from the AP article (see link below):

"Detectives said there was nothing illegal about the discussions, and in order to arrest anyone they had to catch either the escorts or their customers in the act of committing prostitution. That was difficult."

"The sheriff's office first attempt to infiltrate the board was quickly spotted when it offered no picture of the woman offering her services."

"Later, detectives resorted to using a picture of a woman in a bikini with a come-hither message, the advertisement generated 3,000 inquiries in a single day, Bowling said."

No message you post on any board anywhere from a computer than can be tied to you is completely private.

It is a lot more complicated, but essentially records could theoretically exist on your average server which can tie your post to you just as easily as linking a phone call to your long distance bill.

The hard part would be putting all those records together, but they do exist. On the bright side, not to be insulting, but I doubt anyone cares what you or I write. Making a post, asking a question, etc is not illegal. Same can not be said about making a post theatening the president (which I am not doing). Try that on too many public boards and you are liable to get a visit from the men in reflective aviators who ARE willing to take the time to put those records together.

So in short...
Dont assume your posts on the internet are completely private but in most cases, no one will care.
