First, what makes you happy? And secondly, what keeps you happy?

During an annual employee evaluation/review, the company HR manager states that I have seemed to be happier this past year. He says this to me as I was expressing my complete and total lack of job satisfaction. So it got me wondering what variable had changed. It seems the only thing I had done any differently this past year was spend more time (and money) devoted to companionship. Both in a civilian relationship, and doubled my hobby activity from the previous year. It appears to me, and to others, that my happiness had nothing to do with, but had affected my job performance (and probably other things I'm not aware of).

So, this brings about the question, how do you stay in that positive frame of mind, when surrounded by such negative influences? Do you feel any of this could be related to spending time with providers?

I focus on what factors caused me to choose my profession and on how much I like doing it, even on bad days.  Hobbying enters the picture only as a means of meeting my physical needs and meeting women outside of work.

being comfortable with yourself. After you've reached this incredible part of your life, then you can enjoy other materialistic things: jazz concerts, theatre, traveling, the beach, someone else.

As a civil attorney for lower income people, there is nothing else that would give me more job satisfaction. However, the social scene in Seattle sucks big moose balls. People here are terrible to get along with outside of a working environment. It is like most just want to be ian aloof status. Even the hobby scene is not that great in this city; to much bait and switch, poor atitudes and false advertising. I do have a wildcard to play though. Beautiful Vancouver B.C. is just 150 miles to the north, probably one of the best places in North America for the hobby: Very beautiful women, a kickass exchange rate, lots of Asian providers, no extended reference check and a great night life. I will not be living in this shithole too much longer, but it is nice to know that I have a place to escape to once a month or more.
