I have a profession that does not lend itself to clothes that I would consider date worthy. I have often wondered if I showed up, clean as a whistle, and groomed to the nines, but my clothes were.... well my work clothes, how would a provider feel?
I guess as in any date, I would want to put myself in the best light, but I was hoping to hear what the ladies and gents thought about work clothes vs. getting dressed up? (Assuming you don't wear a suit or the comparable to work?)
Well, it's true that first impressions are powerful.. and even if you are clean as the proverbial whistle underneath those stained clothes, they will be the first thing your provider notices. So it might give her pause.
I would think that since you're spending money on the hobby, it might be a wise investment to put $50 into a basic pair of Dockers and a decent shirt. Save them for the occasions you make your visits, and they'll stay nice for a long time.
Why go in with a strike against you when it's so easily corrected?
Like crimefighters and supervillains, you need a "suit"... in this case a hobbysuit.
Here's what you'll need:
Black shirt/sweater, 1 each Black trousers, 1 pair Black socks, 1 pair Black underwear, 1 pair (Calvin's are nice) Black boots/shoes, 1 pair Black suit bag, heavy-duty, with shoe pockets, 1 each
Now of course you don't have to go with black, that's just my personal choice, but what with your penchant for staining your clothes, it might not be a bad idea.
Have all your gear dry-cleaned/professionally laundered and keep it in the suit bag AT WORK. When the time comes to hobby, slide down the BatPole (or whatever you do) and change into your hobbysuit. When playtime is over, take the suit back to the drycleaners. Once cleaned, store it back in the suit bag so you'll be ready to go again at a moment's notice.
Wear your already-stained work clothes to work, wear some nice clothes out to dinner or dancing, wear sweats (or nothing) at home and enjoy! My suggestions to keep on hand:
Dress Clothes: 2 pairs of dress black pants 1 pair of nice black dress shoes 1 nice black leather belt 3 pairs of khaki-colored pants (two casual, one dressy)because they usually go with everything 1 pair of tan or khaki-colored shoes (make sure they match khaki-colored clothes) 1 pair of dress brown pants 1 pair of dress brown shoes 1 brown leather dress belt 2 pairs of dress blue pants 1 pair of dress blue shoes 1 blue leather dress belt 1 pair of dress gray pants 3 pairs of white dress shirts (they go with everthing) 1 or 2 dress black shirts 1 black/dark gray trench coat for cold and evening wear At least three ties: something with black, blue, tan and/or red always look nice Two to three silk shirts for your enjoyment and hopefully mine
Casual Clothes: 3 or 4 pairs of shorts (khaki, black and white if you're daring and it's summer) 1 pair of sandles (worn without socks, thank you) 1 pair of tennis shoes (with white ankle socks unless you're wearing long pants) A few of your favorite T-shirts with nothing to smaller logos on them A few polo-style shirts (great for golfing or for wearing with shorts) A nice swimsuit, not down to the knees and not a Speedo unless you look like Fabio Sweat pants and sweatshirt to hang out in at a coffee shop if it's cold A few pairs of blue jeans, fitted nicely and not hanging down past your butt, unless you're a gang-banger A few turtleneck cotton shirts for under a blazer casual but dressy look A few sweaters that are not too baggy and simple in color to wear with jeans or dress slacks A few blazers (black, blue and/or tan) A pair of Topsiders for casual dress, possibly to be worn with no socks. Attitude pending A baseball cap to wear only to baseball games, coffee shops (if you must) and golfing
Well, there you have my simple formula. I hope it helps.
grab some larger sizes so the "boys" have room to breath.... buy a pair of Speedo underware... I find green to be the right color....
If by stained - you mean that you work in the city waste management system, well, gals tend to like a man in uniform....
When I take my ladies down to the soup kitchen for our dinner dates... or to the wrestling matches... I find that I need to wear well worn clothes that have not been washed for a while so that we "blend in" with the crowd.... oh, and to keep everything neat and tidy, store your clothes in a Cedar chest with mothballs.... so crawly things don't eat them...
member - for those shorts its brown in back and yellow in front! lol!!!
are dressed for success. Despite my nauseating alias, I'm very well groomed and dressed for all my appointments. Guys that are clean, and well tailored get better results in ALL endeavors (hobby, and elsewhere).
set them aside and only use them for your special visits. No need to worry about them getting stained from work because you will only be wearing them for your dates. Good luck to you sweety!
I have a great wardrobe at home. I am more concerned that if i leave the house dressed for a date, then those who know me would question if that is where I was going.
I was more interested in how providers view how people are dressed when they open the door. Am I being sized up?
Even my messiest clothes are cool looking, just not what I would go on a civie date wearing.
PS... Have you been peeking in my closet again? lol
