The last two providers I have seen have been using diaphrams.  I know this because one of them told me to be careful that I didnt dislodge her diaphram and I could clearly feel the diaphram in the second provider.  Since condoms are always used and one lady told me she used birth control pills as well, what is the need for diaphrams?  Then I got to thinking(scary!!).  I know that my SO uses a cup during her period, particulary on the later days when the flow is light. The cup catches the flow and she can wash it out as necessary.  Is this what the providers are doing, using cups or diaphrams during their periods?  I love DATY immensley but now I am a bit concerned when I am told about or can feel a diaphram.  I would just as soon pass during that time of the month.  Anyone have answers?
Thanks

I used diaphragms when I was married to my ex until he had his vasectomy, and I liked them well enough.

The one lady on the Pill probably was using it as a catch-cup, like the product "Instead", or she wanted to make sure and make up the difference between the 99% effectiveness of the Pill!

I'd make it known to your ladies that you prefer not to book during that time of the month, even if it's a 'light' day.
I feel the guys have the right to know and make a decision.

You say you're concerned? Concerned about the blood, or the spermicide, or concerned because you weren't being informed?

Thanks Sedona.  When I was young, it didn't really matter that much because I seldom dined and was mostly interested in getting off.  As I approach 60 however, quality is much more important than quantity. Anticipating and then savoring a beautiful lady is what I enjoy about the hobby.   Thus, blood, spermacide and not being informed are all part of the equasion.  If I knew it was that time, I would probably pass.

I guess my question is, is the use of cups common during menstruation and do providers normally see clients during those days?

I am on the pill, and sometimes when I am *not* on my period I will have what is called spotting, which can be induced by stress and lack of sleep. I don't use spermicide to insert the phram on those times, when that happens, I use KY, which has no taste. Actually last time I checked most of the spermacides had nonoxynol-9 which tastes horrible and may increase risk of HIV infection. Blech!

Spotting may happen spontaneously for perhaps 2 days on top of 5 for the period which is a whopping 1/4 of the month. I take off for my period, (thanks to my wheel of fortune, aka my bith control pills, lol, I have a pretty good idea when this occurs) but if someone has made an appointment and I happen to be spotting the morning of, I will put in the phram just in case.

I don't think its appropriate to mention in a review, as it is a form of birth control and doesn't have anything to do with preformance or appearance. However it is something that can be discussed on the phone or in my case, through e-mail prior to making an appointment. As a bisexual woman I would say it comes with the territory, but I completely understand your frustration, and would repect your wishes if you were to ever ask me what is the current state of my cootchie is. *smile*

When I was in a monogamous relationship years ago with a man, I used it constantly and loved it. Other times I used it for extra protection combined with a condom when I wasn't on the pill. Recently had a new one fitted, and the doctor was stunned, and acted like it was an archaic device. She was perplexed. You are on the pill, right? Yes. And you use condoms right? Yes. When I told her, she laughed and said it was clever. Actually now that I think about it, when I was establishing my client base I used it often, as a triple form of protection. (pill/condom/phram) when I tour later this year I will most likely be using it. Condoms can break and it does protect the cervix from stds ya know.  ;-)

Sterilized makeup sponges will trap light monthly flow and are virtually undetectible by most "penile and lingual probes".  Of course, they won't provide any STD or pregnancy protection, and there still is that nasty little issue of client deception that STILL should be addressed!
