Thought I would add in my own personal experience. I was with someone for 4 years that had herpes. I knew before we started dating that she did. Anyways in those 4 years we only had unprotected sex and lots and lots of DATY with out latex. Hey I "was" in love and it did not matter if I got it. Luckily I never caught it. After our brutal and messy break up, I can’t tell you how many times I "Thanked God" I did not get it. May say I was really lucky, maybe your right, but after 4 years and staying clean seems to rule out luck. She had herpes nearly all her life and said she knew when an outbreak was coming. And at that time we refrained from any intimate contact. Even with just hands.
Now I am not saying that you cant and wont ever get herpes from DATY or unprotected sex, because obviously you can. And there is always Asymptomatic Transmission. Just sharing my "Own" personal experience with it. I don’t want people saying well so and so said you cant get it from this or that, because pain and simple you CAN, how easy or hard it is to get it is the question.
I've read lots of reviews where the hobbyists enjoy DATY with their providers. Is anyone concerned about contracting genital herpes from the Y? Do you use latex but just omit that from the review?
Over the Thanksgiving holiday I asked my Bro' in-law who is an MD if STDs are as rampant as the "evening news" makes them out to be. His answer was that although the possibility IS out there the the odds are not as the media would like to scare you into believing. Personally I feel much safer with a respected provider that regularly goes for check ups rather than some self-rightious civi' who thinks she is above it all.
Finally, somebody agrees with me that DATY can get you STD as well as without a condom. However, my Asian provider in Vancouver is as clean as a whistle and I'm addicted to DATY on her.

Thanks for the input. I'll share my experience. A long-time friend and I got to fooling around after flirting for several years. When I made the move south to DATY, she pulled my head up and told me she had genital herpes. It freaked me out a bit, and we never started up again. So I guess she was concerned that I might contract it that way. Bottom line: I'm a bit skittish about DATY with the providers.
Given that I just got diagnosed with GH and I apparently caught it inspite of safe safe and 100% condom use (no unprotected oral...BJ or DATY either), it's clear to me that any intimate contact can put you at risk. My initial infection was in an area of unbroken skin to the left and slighly above my penis.
Skin on skin contact or vaginal fluids apparently caused my infection. If I had performaed unprotected DATY on the provider in question, I'm sure I would have also gotten the infection in my mouth as well. The provider I was with must have been very infectious while I was with her. I suspect that she had been infected sometime the previous week and was in her initial highly infectious stage. Penetration was uncomfortable for her and she developed flu-like symptoms and swollen lymph glands on our last night together.
With herpes there apparently is no such thing as safe sex.
