one night but it turns out he and his wife were both too tired so the rocket never blasted off.  The next day he found that he had the constant urge to urinate.  Has anyone heard of this particular side effect?

I take Vitamin V on a regular basis and never had that happen to me, including the one time my rocket was left at the pad.

Your friend should have a doc take a look at things if this is more than a one time event.  Benign prostatic hyperpalsia can make men feel like urinating again just minutes after urination, can make one feel like going when there is nothing much left to pee, and often makes a guy get up more than once in the night.  The prostate gland is likely to become cancerous on most of us men if we live long enough.  But the symptoms do not necessarily indicate cancer.  Sitll a check up is in order if the symptoms are not just a one time thing.

I've been told that Pfizer initially planned to market Viagra as a medication for high BP. When they got to the stage in product development that they started tests in human subjects, very quickly they began to hear about dizziness, "blue lights" in peoples' vision, and headaches.

"Forget it," they decided, since were are already many safe medicines on the market for hypertension. They found out that something else was "up" when they tried to get the unused pills back from their test subjects.

Be carefull taking Viagra.  Several years ago I got a sample from my doctor, I wanted to see what all the hype was about.  I've never had a problem getting it up but I still wanted to check it out.  I took 2 x 25 mg pills, 40 minutes later I about passed out.  It dropped my blood pressure way too low, was not a fun experience.  Never took it again.

Honestly boys; I understand wanting to "split" a 100mg into 2 doses for economic reasons when you're with a SO, but when your spending $$$ or more for an A-list GFE why be pennaurieus(sp?).
The only side effect I've encountered is that I'm totally worn out after the session. Gee!; Thats the whole idea...ain't it?.

it increases the blood concentration of Sildenafil and enhances the risk and severity of side effects. seriously, if you have blood pressure problems (oddly enough, whether high OR low) you have to be very careful.

VIAGRA OVERDOSE CAN BE VERY NASTY & UNPLEASANT!

of course, i don't speak from personal experience [cough] just something i read ... or heard some where i think  :)

Split the 100 mg pill in 1/2:

"it increases the blood concentration of Sildenafil and enhances the risk and severity of side effects. seriously, if you have blood pressure problems (oddly enough, whether high OR low) you have to be very careful."

That's the first I heard of that. I have friends of mine who commonly use the pill cutter to split their blue devil to reduce
the unwanted side effects and still achieve desired "up" time.
Is what you say factual about the increased risks and side effects when using only 1/2 a pill?

All I can say is that my doctor, who also treats my high blood pressure, prescribed the 100s, gave me a pill cutter, and told me to cut them in half (or quarters) -- saves me a bunch of money!  I don't think it would be physician-recommended if it was a problem, at least for me.

I take viagra.
In fact, my doctor perscribes 100mg tablets and has me split them in half.  Even the dosage on the bottle label reads this way.  If this was not a safe practice, at least one doc and one pharmacist had several opportunities to question this approach and intervene.
I think your information is suspect.

Yes, there are several bad effects of using Viagra.  Since I am an old man, the pro's out weight the con's.  The effects after taking a 100 meg pill have been as follows.  Erection lasting for more then 5 hours and hurting penis, not being able to urinate, headaches that are painful about on a 9 scale out of 10, dry mouth, and painful urination about cumming.

as they do for most drugs.

Keep in mind, Viagra was intended to be a heart medication. A side effect was a world class erection. The drug was never approved for the heart, but was for erectile dysfunction. Viagra is not a recreational drug, as it seems to be used by some. It is a serious medication and can cause harm if taken improperly.

Due to prostate surgery my doctor prescribed 100mg viagra.
The 100mg gave me a bad headache that would last at least a day and nothing would make it go away.

As my ability to get an erection has improved he told me to split the 100mg in half. I still get the same effects but the headache is not as bad and either 3 extra strength tylanol or 1 extra strength excedrin and an extra strength bayer take care of the problem.

I due get stuffed-up for about four hours after taking the pill. I only had the blue tint once, that was a real trip.

Actually, I could find no medical literature condemning the practice of cutting the Viagra pills in half.  Since the medicine is not a time-release preparation, there should be no danger of overdose.  One Viagra information site said in their FAQ's that Viagra should not be cut in half because the efficacy of the pill had not been tested that way - not that it was dangerous (more of a "voiding of warranty for a hard-on" issue)  The biggest problem in cutting the pills is the pill design.  For those interested, see the following website for a pill cutter designed for this pill:

www.v2pillsplitter.com

Except for cost-savings, why bother with cutting the pill? Viagra comes in 25 mgm, 50 mgm and 100 mgm doses.  If the lower doses work for you, why not just get the lower doses to begin with?

They charge the same price per pill for the 50mg and 100mg. Not sure about the 25mg.

I assume most hobbyists are aware of the danger of taking Viagra with nitroglycerin (this can be fatal).  I also assume most hobbyists probably get a prescription of Viagra from their doctors who have assessed them for diseases (e.g. heart disease, diabetes, macular degeneration, glaucoma, etc) where Viagra could be dangerous.

There are a number of drug interaction associated with Viagra that could be a problem for the healthy hobbyist, however.
Erythromycin (a commonly used antibiotic), ketoconazole (an antifungal medication), and Tagamet (a common medication for GI upset) can increase Viagra levels in the body and delay clearance of the medication from the body increasing side-effect risk.

obviously Viagra is not time-released (incidentally, ask yourself why!?) so therefore it makes sense that a pill cut-in-half is not going to necessarily elevate the blood levels of the active ingredient in the *long* term (emphasis on long).

put another way, when you take a pill (any pill) in whole, you're almost guaranteed to intake the stated dosage (say 100mg). but if you cut pills in half (even with fancy pill-cutters) you're not necessarily going to get exactly half-dosage (for various reasons among which your lack of pill-cutting skills may be less than "half" the story :)

add to this mix, the potentially sloppy habit of piling on half-pills and quarter-pills and whatnot ... and you invariably end up in a situation where you might just end up ingesting more than your recommended dosage (given your own particular medical condition) and viola! ... A TRIP TO THE ER!   (as in Emergency Room ... not TER! ... THE ER ... TER ... get it? :)

and worst of all, when they wheel you in to triage and the smirking doctors/nurses ask you "so how much did you take?" and you realize you haven't a CLUE!! ... then YOU too may make a mental note to the tune of "don't cut those blue bastards in half ever again!"  ... LOL

hypothetically, of course!

A friend of mine once mistakenly took an ovberdose of Viagra and that baldness cure Propecia...
There were no health related effects and he performed like Johny Wadd. After sex, he cleaned up and came back to his partner
who gasped in horror. He now looked like Don King.
