Today I received my very first piece of mail from AARP.

I understand they automatically start mailing you when you turn 50.

They jumped the gun by several weeks!

Sigh.

How do you describe my father?   He joined me up at the AARP as a joke when I turned 50.  I quit as fast as I could.   It is now almost 13 years later, we are still both alive, and I still don't belong to the AARP.

and made me a member for one of my many birthdays after turning 50. God forbid. I quit as soon as I could. Not only is it for people who consider themselves old, it's for liberals, trying to get more government $$$$$.

With an attitude and an outlook like that, how can you go wrong!!!

You go girl.
Sorry I missed you when you came to Tampa.

Just my opinion...

. . . so that by the time you join, you're 50.

I'll be 51 in 2 months and I'm a proud car-carrying member of the AARP! :-)

Wait until you start getting mail re Medicare! The good news is that we're still here, still interested in the finer ladies, and still able to get "excited" for and with them!

Ah, good genes and longevity in your family?

You and your dad keep plugging away.  Good luck to both of you.

But while I agree with you that the AARP is busy trying to get government money (which is why I refuse to join) that idea is not limited to liberals.  Everyone wants to get government money because as far as they are concerned it is free money.  Look at the way the Republicans of today are handing out money like it is going out of style.

Either way, if it's with you it wouldn't be bad. It would be a lot of fun! :)

Big deal, I started recieving them when I was 38 and I won't be 50 for another 2 months. :-) Think they were trying to tell me something? Plus 50 is not old. If 80 is the new 40 (according to Hef) then 50 must be the new 25.

...until the other day at the gym I realized that the dude on the next bench was having a diaper malfunction. Suddenly I felt quite youthful.

tape it to a cement block and mail it back to AARP. That will accomplish two things -- it will cost AARP money that they would otherwise use to blackmail Congress into continuing to screw the baby boomers for the benefit of rich retirees, and it will get you off their mailing list. Of all the lobbying groups here in DC, AARP is the most evil.
