A little bit of logic will tell you that if racial admixtures as small as 3% are genetically detectable, and that if a forensic anthropologist can determine your race just by looking at your bones, race is an absolute, scientifically provable, physical reality.

Personally, I think "racist" is a non-word. It's just a word used today similar to the way "heretic" was used during the Spanish Inquisition.
Every distinct ethnic group has a right to maintain its own gene pool and, to the extent they wish, limit intermarriage.
Whether you like it or not, race is NOT a social construct. Professor Gill, professor of forensic anthropology at Colorado State University, can tell a person's classic anthropological race from bones alone. Obviously, race is not just about skin color. A company called DNA Print Genomics can tell a person's proportion of different races within 4% just from a cheek swab.
If you can determine race from looking at a bone or analyzing a cheek swab, it is real and far from a social construct.
Different races have different evolutionary advantages; though all are equally human and equally deserving of respect and human dignity.
Asian-derived people are least susceptible to lung cancer; African-derived people are least susceptible to malaria; and European-derived people are least susceptible to HIV. And this is just ONE area of difference. Different clot-busting drugs and blood pressure medicines work differently on different races.
In other words, "diversity" is not about skin color. It is about genetic traits that distinctly define a group of people.
Intermarriage, like it or not, destroys that genetic uniqueness just as certainly as if people were sent to gas chambers. In other words, intermarriage is slow motion genocide.
Remember, the very PREMISE of genocide is the idea that ethnic groups are not identical. If they were identical, then gassing 6 million Jews would not be genocide, it would simply be mass murder.

Nature never stops evolution, and life never puts all of its eggs in one basket. It is always differentiating and creating new variants of species. This is good, because circumstances on this planet have changed dramatically over time and as a result some species have survived, and some have not.
We never know when a new and improved Bubonic Plague will be unleashed. We never know when an asteroid might brush by our atmosphere. We never know what the future holds.
But this we DO know, if we are honest: that the wide diversity of humanity in all of its forms -- African, Jewish, Asian, Caucasian, and many others --- has a FAR greater chance of making it through whatever the future holds if we maintain that precious genetic diversity that manifests in different strengths.
Because we cannot know what will be needed in the future, it is supremely foolish to interbreed races and thereby remove concentrations of traits that we may not even realize yet are important.
And this is the reason why genocide, whether through gas chambers or interbreeding, is the ultimate wrong: because the absorption or dying out of ANY group of people could ultimately mean the total disappearance of all human life on this planet.

The problem lies in the fact that people are often boxed in by their formal training which makes it difficult to consider things from a different perspective.
Cultural anthropology, as a field, makes a specific point of the essential non-existence of race as a factor in cultural development. In the nature-nurture debate, it comes down pretty heavily on the "nurture" end. I see the world as both nature AND nurture.
But there ARE other perspectives. I have given you perspectives from forensic anthropology, medicine and molecular biology that all say race (no matter what term you use for it) is real.
For you to call entire fields of study other than your own ignorant is ridiculous. That's why I say you should overcome the cultural anthropology box, and just see that there are other perspectives out there.
The fact that race is real does NOT necessarily imply that anyone should be ethnically cleansed, oppressed, harmed or even disrespected.
Here's the thing. Facts are just facts. They are devoid of moral content. It is what someone chooses to DO with those facts, that adds the moral content.

Jews are, in fact, a genetically distinct people; and all I am arguing is that they ought not be subject to the disappearance of their unique traits. But I apply this across the board. Whether it is the San people of the Kalahari with their unique genetic gift of a fully intact olfactory sense or anyone else -- I do not want their beautiful uniqueness destroyed.
But I can understand that you perceive my possibly inordinate praise of Jews to reflect a bias.
In that case, let me cite Dr. Matt Nuenke's "The Myth of Racism." Dr, Nuenke is well known as an anti-Semite and eugenicist. According to Dr. Nuenke, in the sources just cited, the average IQ of Jews is 117 whereas the average IQ of the population at large is 100.
Dr. Kevin MacDonald, who was recently featured on the ADL's web page as an "anti-Semite" has written a trilogy exploring Jewish group evolutionary strategies. In this trilogy, particularly in the second book, "Separation and its Discontents," he exhaustively documents not only that Jews are truly smarter, but explains WHY.
Then you can look at the fact that out of 6 billion people on earth, only 20 million are Jews -- and THEN just look at the proportion of Nobel prizes that Jews have been awarded. You'll be astonished. That's pretty objective.
So I can derive identical information from philo-Semitic, anti-Semitic and objective sources; I simply use the philo-Semitic sources as they are less controversial. If all three agree, though, its highly likely that what I am saying is factual.

Now, let's talk about inbreeding.
If you'd like to learn a lot about inbreeding and outbreeding, a really good introduction, though in a different genre is Carol Deppe's "Breed your own vegetable varieties." The core principles are just as applicable to humans as to vegetables; except in the case of humans various ethical issues and social norms apply.
Some plants are strong inbreeders and others are strong outbreeders like spinach and corn. Tomatoes are unharmed by hundreds of generations of inbreeding; whereas inbreeding depression for corn can manifest in just a single generation.
Yet, if you look through any heirloom seed catalog, you will find dozens of distinct varieties (races) of corn that have remained distinct from other varieties through 100 generations of careful isolation without suffering from inbreeding depression. The reason is that all that is required to avoid inbreeding within a variety (race) is a certain minimum population of that variety (race). In the case of corn, it is only 400 plants; in the case of broccoli it is 20.
When you consider that most major population groups (or races) contain millions of people (and some contain billions); it is quickly realized that breeding within a population grooup of that size is unlikely to lead to inbreeding depression except in pockets where inbreeding has been specifically practiced for some reason.
According to the standard theory, the major races started diverging first 100,000 years ago (Africans stayed in Africa) and then 40,000 years ago (Europeans and Asians split).
Would you argue that Africans, Asians or Europeans are all a bunch of inbred idiots? While certain pockets of inbreeding have happened over time (often due to attempts to concentrate resources among a wealthy elite); overall, all of the major groups of humanity have remained genetically healthy and vigorous. These races were largely separated from each other by geographic boundaries for tens of thousands of years with only a bit of mixing at the margins, yet remained perfectly fine.
As a cultural anthropologist, you are no doubt familiar with Margaret Mead's research. Much of this research was centered on small and isolated populations. Rather than finding inbreeding depression, she reported these populations in glowing terms for their social enlightenment!
Jews are a bit of a special case as, up until 1,000 years ago, polygamy existed and there were certain religious strictures that encouraged consanguinity. As a result, a few genetic illnesses have raised their ugly heads. However, among the Jewish population these are now easily and routinely avoided through genetic testing and with a population of 20 million or so, there is no danger of inbreeding depression.
In other words, inbreeding is NOT an issue and it is not what I am advocating.

There are European jews (the Ashkenazi, as someone quoted below), African jews, the jews who never moved out of their homeland (the Sephardim, as someone mentioned below) and who are well nigh identical to their neighbors, the Palestinians, and also Jewish people who came from other parts of the world, including from places in Asia. These are all clearly and distinctly different people, that follow a common faith of Judaism.
Bottomline, there is no monolithic identity called a Jew, as you are trying to project. And I see that you are getting a little carried away with this nonsense.

Do you have any scientific proof of the mixing of races is degrading the genetic "Strengths" of each race?
I lied, a follow up questions. Did you just use your own beliefs to come up with the degradation conclusion? How do you know that by mixing genetics that we aren't actually getting the strengths of both and making even better people? Happens all the time with breeding animals and plants. Mixing to make things better.
You say we need to keep separate in order to be prepared for whatever the future holds for us. The unknown future. What if it would behoove us to actually mix genetics to get better/stronger people who don't have hang ups over race/genetics. What if whatever the future holds for us means we need people like that to continue to exist. With your thoughts and statements then the human race would be in big trouble.
I say people need to just go with what floats their boat and not worry about how humans will survive in the future. Either we will or we won't. Who we decide to fuck/marry/have kids with won't matter.

I don't think so since, in my personal experience, the premise is not true. My GF is Jamaican, we are not married because 25 years ago, she decided it was her duty to stick with her husband. They are sicne divorced and we are now waiting for my son to be steady and old enough. I know many couples who are Jewish/black and --while neither of my wives are Jewish and I now go to Friends meeting, my son decided to go to Hebrew School 5 years ago and be Bar Mitzvah; a number of his class mates were mixed race kids (black white/Asian white.)
I am not sure of the point of the question in any event.
I am not prejudice but everyone's opinions were an interesting read. I, too, have done some major research in cultural anthropology. I think -- whether we agree or agree to disagree on a topic -- that we need to keep an open mind for such topics from a scientific standpoint. However, I don't agree with keeping inbreeding sacred.
With that said, I would be happy to experiment with anyone who is of a different race than me.
