when you hear certain songs, you can't stop singing them or playing them over and over in your mind.

When I heard Paul Potts sing the excerpt from Nessun Dorma on Britain Got Talent contest, it stuck with me. I find myself singing or humming that excerpt several times a day.

Just curious ... Why we do that?

What songs do you find yourself constantly singing or humming?

Me So Horny
Sittin' at home with my d*** on hard
So I got the black book for a freak to call
Picked up the telephone, then dialed the 7 digits
Said, "Yo, this Marquis, baby! Are you down with it?"
I arrived at her house, knocked on the door
Not having no idea of what the night had in store
I'm like a dog in heat, a freak without warning
I have an appetite for sex, 'cause me so horny

Girls always ask me why I f*** so much
I say "What's wrong, baby doll, with a quick nut?"
'Cause you're the one, and you shouldn't be mad
I won't tell your mama if you don't tell your dad
I know he'll be disgusted when he sees your p**** busted
Won't your mama be so mad if she knew I got that a**?
I'm a freak in heat, a dog without warning
My appetite is sex, 'cause me so horny

You can say I'm desperate, even call me perverted
But you say I'm a dog when I leave you f***** and deserted
I'll play with your heart just like it's a game
I'll be blowing your mind while you're blowing my brains
I'm just like that man they call Georgie Puddin' Pie
I fuck all the girls and I make 'em cry
I'm like a dog in heat, a freak without warning
I have an appetite for sex, 'cause me so horny.

It's true, you we're a v***** until you met me
I was the first to make you hot and wetty-wetty
You tell your parents that we're goin' out
Never to the movies, just straight to my house
You said it yourself, you like it like I do
Put your lips on my d***, and s*** my a***** too
I'm a freak in heat, a dog without warning
My appetite is sex, 'cause me so horny

Nessun Dorma in English. However, I could be mistaken because my ability to translate Latin is somewhat suspect.  LOL

Doesn't help that the singer is really a werewolf.

you know, like when a specific tone is sounded, a pitch fork tuned to that specific frequency will vitrate as the sound waves interact with the pitch fork... anyway, there are certain rhythms to things.... architects know that buildings have harmonic frequencies... (mythbusters once did a show on that! but they failed to bring down a building... bwa hahahaha!)
The point of the sci-fi novel was that specific songs or refrains had the potential to set up a resonant frequency in the brain as it induced specific electrical circuits to fire... interesting concept... and that when you hit a specific one... well the brain could not stop resonating that frequency of electrical impulses....   and voila, your brain exploded!  or some such... me?  I like to think that is what happens when you can't "get that song outta my head!" or so it goes....

It's a small world song.  I haven't been to Disneyland in a long time, but when I do I refuse to get anywhere near that ride.  Because of the song.

you want to find Osama Bin Ladin?  Just make the captured prisoners ride that thing for 2 days.  They'll talk.

...the heard a certain type of music. So, apparently it does set up some kind of harmonic in the brain.*

Of course, there was "Mars Attacks" where the Martians heads exploded by hearing Slim Whitman's music.

The goofiest one recently was the Mr. Magoo theme. Had that in my head for about three days.

Poor guy died in an insane asylum because he couldn't get a tune out of his head.

and the only way to get it to stop is to hum it backwards. Works every time.
