I am writing an ad and I had to remove the word "raconteur" because I don't want people to think I'm a snob!  I think that was probably a good idea, but geez...

that sounds like a story to me... could you be more anecdotal?

I have read your reviews, your ads, your posts; I have worried with many others about your son; I have seen your pictures: There is absolutely nothing wrong with you; you are adorable.  (You are a bit young for an old guy like me, but that is just me.)Don't change a thing.

Hi - a thought - if you want your ads to attract people you will click with, whom you will really enjoy being with, and who may become welcome regulars, *** Be Yourself ***, express yourself fully and imaginatively.

I don't think there's anything wrong with you. The wording you use helps set the tone of who you are and helps to attract the type of client you wish to see, but you would still want to remain approachable. So I can see where it can be difficult to strike a happy medium between wanting to be distinctive in your ads and yet use wording that still sets you apart from the general population. Perhaps you might use something like “let’s share our interesting stories with each other”.  It uses part of the definition of a raconteur without actually using the word. That way it avoids the negative effect of appearing to be snobbish. Everything in an ad or on your web pages (including the use of good grammar and proper punctuation) all go together in creating a picture of who you are and how you wish to present yourself.

And I do agree with Dr. Joe - "There is absolutely nothing wrong with you; you are adorable." but then you probably knew that already......

Can you elucidate more? There's nothing wrong with wanting a professionally worded ad. If someone thinks you're a snob, that's their problem, not yours. Just be yourself and don't worry about it! If you place the ad, we'll come!!!! Promise!

Uh, define 'highfalutin,' as it pertains to your ad. I just read it, and there is nothing wrong with it, nothing 'hi-falutin,' 'low-falutin,' or even 'in-between falutin.' It's sincere, down-to-earth, and portrays you as someone who is deeply caring and loving, especially for those close to you. Dr. Freud I'm not, but the blog entry about your son and what he just went through really shows the kind of person you are. In my humble opinion, you should leave the ad as is. But that's just me!

I have one friend that I've seen a handful of times who is WAYYY smarter than I am.  It's part of the fun, and she teaches me stuff every time I see her.

"raconteur"  I have no idea what that means but as far as escort sites go I only look at the pictures.

I think if you use the phrase "highfalutin" in your ad, you won't have to worry about anyone thinking you are "highfalutin".

Let’s look at this from a business standpoint because basically you are asking a marketing question.  In this business, four factors determine market success if the market is defined simply as the male hobbyist-pictures, services, reviews, and price. The ranking of these four factors will differ with each client but I think few would dispute that these factors are 90% of the reason the lady is chosen.


          If this is true, it really does not matter what a lady says in her ad if she scores well in these four areas –you’ll get all the business you need. Few if any guys will pass you by because you are a self-described “raconteur.”


         On the other hand, if you are seeking a more defined market – the affluent and usually better educated hobbyist who might be more willing to pay a higher price, or any guy to whom conversation is important – then what you say might play a key role in sealing the deal with these guys. Describing yourself as a “raconteur” would probably set you apart from 90% of the competition at least as far as ads go, although web sites might be a different story. Moreover, it might lead to more dinner date type clients as a lady who is really hot, but who also relates stories in a skillful and witty manner, would be seen as a highly desirable dinner date.

       So I do not see the use of “highfalutin” language as snobbish at all. It’s just a question of who you are trying to reach.

First off, the beauty of being an indie in this biz or any really when self employed, is your business is a reflection of who you are as a person. You want your ad to reflect your personality, and what you are all about.
I agree you want to feel approachable to your Gentlemen, and not too over the top, but you are who you are, and I am certain it is a great deal of what brings Gentlemen to you.
The tone of your ad does bring a certain client in your direction, I don't see it as being snobish, just weeding out the ones you prefer Not to spend your time with.
The beauty of self employment is in part, you can be yourself. Be Honest Sincere and who you are.  Good luck Lovie...

1)Using upper case letters at the beginning of your sentences. 2)Personalizing your site. It takes a little practice with the templates and text but you can stand out among the vast number of providers who use Rare just by making a few changes that are unique to your site.

(In the meantime, I've discovered quite a few other interesting nuggets but that's besides the point right now.)

What that suggests to me is that you would be a very good raconteur (One who is capable of entertaining by their ability to tell stories.)

If you seek the type of hobbyist who is drawn to that aspect of your entertainment (and I am one such hobbyist), then leave it in.

It doesn't hurt to show some intelligence.  Any of us looking for a true GFE will appreciate a lady with some brains who is not afraid to use them.  My only suggestion to you is to add the word "young" in front of MILF on your web site.  Most of the time, we gentlemen think of a MILF as a lady in her mid-thirties or slightly older.
