Medicaid, she is doing herself a big disservice.
Medicaid plans are horrible in most cases, offer limited coverage, poor choice and are mainly designed for those in dire need. Most medical facilities also offer low priority to Medicaid patients and doctors spend less time with them because government reimbursement rates are so low when compared to someone who pays cash or has private insurance.
If she makes $10K a week, she would be better off paying her taxes and getting a really good private insurance plan for less than a $1K a month depending on where she lives.
Sometimes it is possible to get "too smart" for your own good and I suspect this might be the case with her. The again, you can't fix stupid.

Happens all the time. Family members, ex's and friends turn people in all the time. Usually they are told that the social service doesn't have time and resources to investigate unless you have physical proof. I guess to those who are unconcerned don't ever complain about how much you pay in for taxes.

She got sick and spent about a week in the hospital. Rather than pay her bill, she applied for and got medicaid. Simply put, she doesn't want to use her money for this when she can get out of paying for it. She has no US assets. I learned this during the fact. Make sense now?

As a medical professional who deals with lot of medicaid and medicare... i think they should have medicaid or medicare because doctors, treatment is very expensive. lot of them do not make that much in a month. There is no stable income in this biz. Medicaid comes in handy if they have minor kids or the person itself has some known and unknown serious medical conditions. I beleive almost all the providers are on medicaid or medicare disability in some instances. Providers are certainly not the people you want to target because they probably constitute a small percentage of the people who take advantage of this. Can you imagine the america without medicaid and medicare?.

I signed up to receive medicaid benefits once because of back issues...(this was long before I was a provider)...the process was invasive, lengthy and took months to get approved...once approved, I could get almost NO services. When I did try to get my back looked at by a professional (this was all after exhausting my own funds on drs, xrays, and the whole time being treated like a drug seeker, no one gave me any answers) I was waitlisted for 6 months...during that time I healed myself through diet and holistic care including chiropractic, acupuncture, massage and being active...but the main thing was diet.
After everything I went through, I never was able to use those medicaid "benefits."
For regular check-ups I go to planned parenthood...they are inexpensive and thorough.
I pay out of pocket for all my medical expenses...but I pay a lot more for preventative maintenance like organic produce and massage...which keeps my medical expense super low.

I do personally feel that laws are make-believe and we may be subject to government consequences by failing to keep ourselves safe and our business private, but under Universal laws, all is allowed.
I do also consider myself a person with integrity...I may have my own view of it as of course many people would consider my profession to not be intregrous.
But going against these so called man made laws, one is not worse than the other, it's all relative. It seems to me you should like your provider to have health care at the ready, by whatever means needed...I personally do not see medicaid as a value and don't use it. I've tried in the past when I really did need it and the whole process is invaisive and almost useless. In fact, I want the govt in my life as little as possible and sucking off their teet does not lend to a lack of meddling...but on the other hand, we don't have the whole story on anyone's life so we can't judge.
I see seeing a provider as a moral decision, unless I am seeing someone under age we are both consenting adults and can make our own choices. I am paying her with money I earned, not cheating on my taxes to get money for this.
Medicare fraud is an ethical question and says alot about your values, especially if you can afford real insurance. Food stamps and welfare programs are the same thing. You are hurring others by lying and cheating the same thing. People who need these programs are turned away because each day.

This provider tours every other week per se. She arrives one weekend and leaves the next. Let's say she averages 4 clients a day at $350 each times 9 working days, that's about $12.6K/week. Less expenses, she probably nets $10K. Since she works every other week, that's two weeks a month, that $20K/month net, $240K/year.
Now, would it matter to you if she was not filing her federal or state income taxes? Would it matter to you if she was taking the $ out of the country? Just wondering because this is what's happening!
Now, what level of illegal activity is worth turning in? Prostitution usually is a misdemeanor depending upon the location. Welfare fraud is a felony. So how do you equate one crime versus another in your decision to alert the authorities?
All too often we see or hear about crimes where law enforcement is hampered because no one saw anything; no one wants to get involved.
We can deduct that through her Medicaid she is getting tested. Left to her own devices of paying for healthcare, she may not be as diligent. Her use, or in your terms abuse, of the system is also a public safeguard.
Taxes pay more for that, so wtf...at least the damn government is paying some of her stuff vs. all of it like many others. With Medicaid, the child will also get the required procedures, check ups, etc. without waiting for an emergency to happen like most without any coverage. That in itself costs billions a year. As someone in the Admin. arena of Healthcare, I can tell you that fraud is the biggest issue we face today, but it is not from the damn single moms...try the clinics that set up for business when they are not seeing any patients and getting paid for services they never performed!

The bottom line is that I have been seeing this provider for quite some time now. She was recently hospitalized for several days. As she doesn't have insurance, she asked for money to pay her medical bills of which I complied. A couple of days after I deposited the funds in her account she called and asked for more. She was broke again. I offered to assist but only if I paid the vendors directly versus putting more money into her account. She declined and since that time has not responded to my calls nor texts. I understand that she has applied and has been approved for medicaid in a state in which she does not reside but tours in. I am certain that the money I put in her account went south to Mexico to her husband.
I want to thank you guys for your input on this thread and ultimately my stupidity. I needed to hear each and every comment that was posted. I don't think I'll turn her in and just chock this up to one of life's lessons. After all, it's only money, which was well spent to learn the true nature that lies within this individual. I am certain that life will equalize.
So...when you turn her in, will you be explaining the nature of your relationship to the Federal representative??? Because they will find out how you know.
