Things do come up, especially if a provider has small children.  But I've found that being understanding of the unplanned problem usually results in everything being made right in time.  The good business women do take care of things one way or another.  But ranting and raving "how dare you have to cancil because your 2-yr old got sick!" is hardly ever going to turn out well.  (Drunk, as in the OP, is a different animal all together)

I have to take this moment to vent.  I work for a local agency, and  a client to called and set up an appt with my coworker.  Well apparently she was too drunk and rambled on about her ex-bf.  For one I don't understand why he didn't call the agency at that point to get some one else out to him.  But then this guy expects a rate cut.  Now I could understand a long term customer, but this guys has used the agency twice in the last six months.  Of course to hear him tell it he's been a customer for the ten years the agency has been around.....yeah right!!! Where in the world does this guy get off wanting some free for something he waited a week and a half to report!!!!!!!!!

If she's coming to work shitfaced, then do you friend a real favor. Get her into rehab.
Don't come on here like the hobbyist did something wrong because he walked into a babbling drunken fool for a provider.

The agency owes him a make up session with a competent and coherent provider and then some. Hopefully it won't be you.

Some friend you are.

every one needs some lube. sometimes the bottle spills. it happens. If it does not work out ya then you complsin.

Did the guy stay for his appointment and then complain or did he leave as soon as he realized she was incompetent (a smart move)? If he stayed after realizing she was drunk, and still did the appointment, then I have little compassion for him. If he left ASAP, then you owe him, even if it's his first time.

Exactly. If I order a steak at a restaurant and it’s burnt to a crisp, if I send it back immediately, I deserve a new steak. If I eat the thing and then ask for a comp, they should tell me to go have intimate relations with myself.

Absolutely dead-on Allergic! Who wants to pay anyone for any service, sexual or otherwise and have someone drunk and rambling show up to do a poor job?

if she was drunk on the appt that to me is VERY unprofessional I would def give her a warning if i were you then try to work something out with the client give him NO freebie but def give him some sort of deal. I worked in sales & customer service before and customers & even clients sometimes need to be cut some sort of deal  especially if there was an occurence that could have been avoided example. her getting drunk..that shouldve never happend especially when shes working a glass or two is fine but to get wasted is just out right bad & will def affect her reputation, if she doesth is consistently. even though the client has only been to the agency twice a customer is a customer regardless & he is still spending a large sum of money whether its 300 or 500 we never know other peoples financial issues for all you know this couldve been something he was looking forward to for awhile. In this business I find its the clients fantasy not the providers & clearly a drunken mess wasnt what he was fantasizing..def get her into rehab if its a recurring problem it could save her life in the future. I once had a doubles partner who was a addict & kept it a secret until she kept showing up late &  kept waking up later then she was supposed to. its just bad business & it DOES reflect on you..like my mother said SHOW ME WHO YOU WALK WITH & I WILL TELL YOU WHO YOU ARE.
hope everything turns out ok :)

while I was there.  I tried to slip out to give her some privacy...  She barely let me go to the bathroom.  Spent the next hour calming her.  Eventuaolly resumed our session but her heart wasn't in it.  I stayed.  I paid.  It would have been an added drama to take off.

So I can see the OPs problem with terminating the meeting.  And some of us are torn about causing problems for a lady...   I think he sould get some consideration on his next appointment.  A reduced rate or some free time.  The OP should be thanked for bringing it to the agency's attention.

Meanwhile the agency should check if this lady was impaired...  Impairmemt makes for bad choices & lack of carefulness.  Trouble brewing.  I'd think an agency would not want the added risk of an impaired worker.

If I was in the middle of personal problems and my mind was elsewhere I'd offer to make it up one way or another in  subsequent meeting.
