TER General Board

Anyone else believe "the hobby" is an odd term to use for this world.

1) Treats for Tricks.
2) Happy Hooker Hour.
3) Jerk my Junk.
4) Hugs and Tugs, and Things Momma said not to do.
5) Shag a Slut Sessions.

Or we can just call it Roddy's Hookerdom.  That's what your after right?  Your very own website devoted to political correctness and niceties, where your view is the rule.

ou are like the providers who announce their retirement, and then post ads the next day.

As for your topic, a lot of people not only dislike the term, but actually despise it. (including your best bud Nicky). If you ever learned to search and read, you would see this is another common topic of these boards.

As for me, I have no problem calling this a "hobby," and myself a "hobbyist."

Actual definitions of those terms:

Hobbyist:
a person who pursues an activity in their spare time for pleasure.

Hobby:
An activity or interest pursued outside one's regular occupation and engaged in primarily for pleasure.

Those definitions seem to perfectly fit this activity

Did you really think I'd come here and agree with Tidwit?  Not a chance.  I'm officially a hobbyist now. So is Tidwit

Anyone have any ideas for a new fun term that sounds less "collection of women"?
I don't really think "the hobby" sounds like a "collection of women'   It sounds like people getting together to have fun.   When I think of a collection of women, thanks to Mitt Romney that would now be a "binder"

Collecting baseball cards is collecting, playing D & D is playing a game, my hobby is both of those things. Role playing with a beautiful woman and collecting great memories. No, I feel that hobby is the perfect term for what this is for me. And, I'll add that it is the perfect hobby. I have never been happier than I am right now, college was close, but I didn't have the financial security that I enjoy now. And all the women I'm seeing now are beautiful, sexy and sexual dynamos. No I can't think of anything I'd rather call it.

Just curious as to your thoughts?  Is there a test they take?

He's got some serious competition with cosmicangst.

The problem is that neither professional victim are smart enough to evade capture with their bullshit.

I submit that you correct # 3 to just reflect pitiful victim.

The other categories I agree with 100%  ;)

Hobby and hobbyist doesn't really have a negative connotation from my perspective.  However, hooker, john, prostitute, punter, trick, whore, and countless others don't don't seem like very nice words to call a person. So I think it's one of the better terms to describe p4p.  Escort, courtesan, and client doesn't sound bad either.

For me, "hobbyist" somehow ignores the significance of the joy that living the life brings. Some see it as strictly a physical function, some as a business transaction, some as an art, some as an amusement, and some as a pastime. For most if not all, it is a way of making joyful and pleasurable experiences. To any observer whose perspective isn't clouded by Puritanical outrage with pleasure, Merrymakers would an appropriate way of referring to the lot of us.

So my vote is for Merrymakers.

As in placing a hotty on my rod?  For fun and pleasure as opposed to work.  Example:  "Dude, watcha doing this weekend?"  "I've got a hotty I've lined up and I'm going to rod her.  I'm going to participate in my rodding activities."  "Dude, excellent!"

in The Urban Dictionary.
turdwell
Extreme form of Mangina-ism. Inescapable need to defend the female gender and fear of offending women, to the point of ignoring facts and propagating obvious fallacies. Need to be heard and respected. Synonym of Tardwell/ Roddy Tardwell.
Example.
Man: I paid a hooker but I don't know how to tell her what I like.

Friend: dude, you're such a turdwell!

I used to do a lot of woodworking as a hobby, but not so much anymore, so I'm pretty sure the term is available.

I just don't get it. What is this weird compulsion you have with imposing your view of the world on everything? Hobby is a pretty good term, I don't understand why you think it has some sort of derogatory connotation. A hobby is an activity or interest pursued for pleasure or relaxation and not as a main occupation. I didn't make that up, look it up for yourself. It doesn't have to involve collecting things, lots of hobbies have nothing to do with collecting things. So why do you think that using the term makes it sound like we are collecting women? The term sounds odd to you so you think that we should come up with a new FUN term for what we are doing here. Really? A FUN term?

I feel like my IQ has gone down just by engaging in this conversation.

I agree with you, and no, your IQ hasn't gone down. As long as "hobby" is what everyone calls it, who should care? Still... Sometimes the term seems strange to me. Years ago, I went into a Burger King and asked for a ham and cheese, and the server wouldn't take my order unless I called it a "Yumbo." For some reason that was offensive. But when I contact a lady, she doesn't require me to refer to myself as a "hobbyist" before making a date. So I disregard my personal dislike for the term because I seldom use it.
