Parisians mobilized, and on July 14 stormed the Bastille fortress in their fight for liberty, equality and fraternity in 1789..... Now when were those pesky patriots runnin loose, dumpin tea in the Boston Harbor? hummm.... could it have been 1773 culminating in the signing of the Declaration of Independance in 1776... But hey, at least the French had good wine.
And EVEN IN 1789, instead of a democracy the Convention established a war dictatorship operating through the Committee of Public Safety, the Committee of General Security, and numerous agencies such as the Revolutionary Tribunal. This shining beacon of great French History is known as the Reign of Terror. And is represented by the likes of Robespierre. Wow, Think I will take our definition of liberty and equality a bit more... as for fraternity, you referring to the 3 muskateers? not sure what that means...
Oh, and least I forget to mention, did you mean Liberty and equality and all that as practiced under Napoleon? mr.fisher, ya gotta help me here buddy, cause when I look at the entirity of French history, all I see is bigotry, hatred and cheese with fresh vegatables... I don't even like their wine... prefering the german and italian styles of fermentation...
And Least we forget my own bigotry, what I find so offensive about the French is that they so exeplify what I consider to be wrong with Europe as a whole.... Whining, cheating (all while each individual stuffs his or her pockets with the treasures of other countries - even in present day, taking loot from Saddam houssain... etc.) and downright arrogance... yea, the you're-a-peeings are a great group.... a model for us all.
