Probably your choice of VPNs. Mine has been perfect for the several years I have been using it.
Any recommendations on how to fix that?
Last night it was not too bad, but today, things sucketh.
I switched to "Turbo VPN" and it's as fast as before.
Any speed difference in the VPN I'm using. I believe I'm routed through Canada at the moment.

Been using a VPN for years. Never had any slowdown issues.
There are lots of other services that will do the trick (pun intended).
I am learning a lot about VPNs and TOR browsers this morning. I was successful in setting up hide.me on a free basis but I am wondering about cost. Over time I imagine I’ll need to actually spend money to get good service
I would want accounts for an iPad and a desktop. What are people spending?
NordVPN works for me on Android and Windows. They have apps for iOS too. They have a special $99 for three years.
Why use TOR when vpn is so much easier?
I'm using Tor now, and no significant speed problems. I first tried to use a VPN, and got no connections anywhere, not sure what the problem is but I hope their tech support helps
Probably your choice of VPNs. Mine has been perfect for the several years I have been using it.
Proxy website or proxy server would suffice. No need for that onion thing.
yes but vpn is safer
I'm so happy to see it's not a wasteland and TER is still here. Sorry wet my pants at my first look but calming down. Downloaded the TOR Browser and working just fine. Happy days are here again.... There's still life after FOSTA

TOR working fine. Speed not a problem, this my first visit,
"Free" VPN's. They generate their revenue through selling some of your information/ID that you want to keep private. I went with ExpressVPN. Special now -15 mo for $99. You can choose from nearly 40 countries for your "home."
You might have tried this already, but clicking on the onion in the upper left corner of the browser allows you to request a new tor circuit. That can sometimes put you on a faster one.
...there are times I cant even connect but I guess it is better than nothing. I have to think TER is going to pull the plug on the US entirely. Why allow access via technical wizardry. Access is access. Not only that, we are all openly talking about how to get access. IF we know, TER knows and Uncle Sam knows.
"Blocking the US" entirely is not possible.
The technical wizardry is actually getting around the US block. Not "allowing" it.
A VPN, proxy, and sometimes TOR will change your IP address to one that is outside the US. Which means you are literally having communication to TER routed to a foreign server FIRST. TER just sees that foreign server's IP address and allows access to it since it's not a US IP address.
Don't use TOR for this. That is unreliable for getting a foreign IP and overkill thus being super slow.
....just like there is no longer a US ads board there will no longer be Any US boards. What is to stop TER from doing that
There are 10's of thousands of VPN servers around the world. No site is going to know if a user is coming in through a vpn and therefore what country the user actually resides. That's rather the point of vpns. VPNs grew up partially to overcome sites blocking certain countries.
I don't think that's entirely true. Wikipedia won't let me edit when I have NordVPN activated. It says my IP address appears to be a proxy. Somehow it knows I've come in through a VPN.
"Somehow it knows I've come in through a VPN"
Many large corporations like Ticketmaster go to great lengths to make exhaustive lists of IPs that are used by popular VPN services and proxy servers.
It's a constant cat and mouse game. There is always a way to set up your own private VPN server or proxy server on foreign soil and have there be NO way that could ever end up on one of their lists.
That's because when you're using Nord you're sharing the same IP with hundreds+ other people, which is why they are able to detect it. It's a blessing and a curse, depending on what you use/need it for. You can blend in with others, or you can have your own dedicated IP and server. If I'm not mistaken, Nord will allow you to order a static IP if you reach out to their customer service. Just be aware that when you browse on the static IP, it's you and you only. Also you will be locked to wherever you first choose the server to be unless you switch to dynamic.
I second (or third?) the recommendations for Nord VPN. It's reasonably priced and works a lot quicker than Tor.
and its free. Just need to set your VPN to the appropriate region of the world for which you wish to explore. I am coming to you from the shadow of the Capitol via Asia.
....not in my personal experience anyhow.
I recommend one of those 3 if you use TOR.
Epic Privacy Browser is a browser alternative also.
Never used VPN but for work. Bought two year Nord VPN for $79 tonight and it works great. Super easy to use. And I am back in. Hey, y'all did u miss me?
For those looking at VPNs... decide how private you want to be. There are hundreds of different services out there. Coming from someone who has needed these services in the past for other reasons, I cannot recommend enough to properly research your potential choices. Don't sacrifice quality for price.
Make SURE the service you are thinking about going with does not log in any form. That should be red flag #1.
Next thing would be to verify what jurisdiction they fall under. Find one outside the 5 eyes/9 eyes/14 eyes countries. There are more than a few good services that fall under Seychelles jurisdiction (Trust.Zone and Boleh), Swiss jurisdiction (ProtonVPN), Hong Kong jurisdiction (Hidester), Bulgaria (VPNarea, which also hosts their email/support from Switzerland), among others.
A warrant canary is also a nice addition. The best canary I've found is the daily one from trust.zone, but others operate with one as well with varying time between updates from monthly to quarterly.
A few vpn services also state they would sooner shut down than turn and cooperate. The strongest of these, which has committed to it Lavabit style and operates a canary, is Cryptostorm.
Since I've seen Nord mentioned quite a few times here... they're under Panamanian jurisdiction. Not a bad choice.
Last thing, Tor isn't as secure as it's made out to be. You can be identified if LEO have access to the DNS... and seeing that 40% of the traffic that exits the Tor network comes from Google's public DNS servers, that is of concern to me.
Like I said in the beginning, I'm talking on the rather extreme end of privacy. So these things are some of the more extensive considerations you can take. Of course, if you only use Tor, it is better to use it than to use nothing at all. But if you're actually concerned about your privacy or need to protect it, then take into consideration some of the things here and invest in a quality service.
Feel free to message me with any questions you may have and I'll do my best to help answer them. Don't be lazy either though and do some research yourself lol.

Sometimes things aren't working ....
We have been fighting SESTA since last summer and sort of knew this could happen, but I don't think I even fathomed the damage it would do. The difficult part of this is that this won't be the last piece of legislation. We are fighting SB 1204 in California right now as well, where they are seeking to expand the definition of pandering so broadly and so vaguely that even harm reduction services will be in jeopardy. However in every storm there is a silver lining... and here the lining is our community and how strong of a showing we have had. The good thing is we have each other. It's times like these where our communities bond and heal together and play together. I'm a firm believer that even in the worst of times, one needs to put things on a shelf and take care. Which is what I plan on doing! Snuggling up with someone and taking solace in the fact that we have each other in this crazy ass world!
Oh, I'm redoing my website and I've temporarily pulled it down just to make sure it doesn't disappear as many of the adult sites are vanishing in mid air. I will relaunch it shortly in a secure location!

Is a good ide. One for US locations with very vanilla content and a second one hosted overseas. I clean up my US already and overseas is in the works
Downloaded TOR--very quick and painless setup. So far it's working like a charm--no issues!!
TER and the like protect themselves legally by blocking USA. Everyone will be back soon on dark web browsers.
End result: deeper shadows to hide in. Human traffickers just follow the paths created by others.
No need for that, bedpage.com is happening

wall of political bullshit.
