I will be attending my second soiree involving a number of others... Looking forward to it very much..  
The first one I went to was great .. I am thinking about it, and wondering what is the etiquette?
I had no idea about the first one, of curse.. It was in the penthouse suite of an elegant hotel with open bar and buffet..The evening started out with everyone sitting around talking and having a drink & having a bite to eat, getting to know each other.. ..  I wore a sports jacket, open shirt, and so on.. When folks arrived, they were given a bathrobe.. so really the better dress ( a step above business casual) was really unnecessary and I had more stuff to store there. There was no designated storage place so I hid my stuff in a bureau drawer.. I changed after I took off with the  first girl of many I was with that evening.
Bottom line, I am wondering what is expected.. the first one was a blast.. a lot more than I ever expected.. so now, having had some experience.. the question has occurred to me.. should I dress up.. for a high end party.. or accept that I won't be wearing my clothes for long anyway.. ..

I have hostessed these parties. I suggest cocktail attire. Sexy but not over the top to be suggestive to hotel staff.

I'm confused why you're asking since you were there last year.  
I'd go with the flow as to what others were wearing?

I explained.. I am asking because I have been to one already... think about it... if you are wearing no clothes most of the evening.. do you carry a wallet?  Where do you put it?

And then don't be a asshole and clean your slob after you DATY....Then I saw it was a dress code? I mean let me channel in my best "Allen Iverson" practice quote,"Dress code,? We're talking about a dress code".....I dunno, it seems that how you came the first time is cool.

I've been to three EWS soirees (Florida, Vegas, NY), plus others in SoFla, Chicago, DC, NYC, and LA.  The hostesses will tell you the etiquette they expect...follow this if you comfortable with them, and you will almost certainly not go wrong.  Simple, really...
