Is accepted by CCBill and, hence, can be used with TER.

Like many, I've been trying to find a card I can use away from prying eyes which will be accepted online and is prepaid (and will not show up on a credit report or something similar).

I purchased this card at a local grocery store and loaded it there. The actual card you come home with can only be used as an ATM card, but once you complete the online activation they send you the real card with your name on it. You do have to give some personal information when you activate the card online (Patriot Act protection and all that) but it otherwise seems untraceable by a SO. Took about a week for my card to come in the mail.

When I signed up for mine, I had to provide my social.

They do not send any info to your house, only to your email address.

Will they ship the permanent card to a PO Box?  What is the monthly fee for the card?  Easy to reload?  What about ATM fees?

Inquiring minds want to know....

I use the Green Dot Card which is one of the many prepaid cards out there.  They do ask for your social but they don't run a credit report and they don't report to any credit agencies.  The monthly fee is $4.95 which is not bad and you can buy refills at just about any store including Walgreen's, CVS and Wal Mart.  It's a pretty good deal and I use to book travel and for deposits and such.

They now have a web browser plugin that claims to work at any site that accepts Master Card but not Pay Pal. It generates a unique Master Card number with exp date and CVS code for every online transaction.

I haven't yet tried it nor fully investigated it, but it certainly looks promising.

You do need to give a social, address, and your real name. My understanding is that this goes into a government database somewhere and is compared against terrorist watchlists and the like to make sure you are not trying to launder or funnel money. The information is not publicly distributed. They also need an address to send you your real card as well.

looking for a way to be anonymous (credit card wise) from certain vendors and SO. Some places that want a CC I'd prefer not to give them mine. Some purchases would otherwise show up on the CC bill under a suspiscious heading. With Paypal, the real vendor doesntt show up on the Paypal payment.

Yeah, the problem with CCBill is that an SO can still look up what the exact charge is if she knows the credit card number and your email address. If your email address doesn't work because you've created a stealth email, the ensuing conversation could be very uncomfortable ("So why doesn't your yahoo email address work when I tried to look this up? Do you have some other email address?"

I need to turn this into another topic about stealth advice. I know some members here are older gentlemen who may not use their computer for much besides hobbying, and may not appreciate just how TRACKABLE everything you do on your computer is, if you don't take some precautions.
