This sure is a busy board, but just to prove that I'm out of my mind, lets try something.
If you could nominate one person other than yourself to unmoderate, who would it be and why? There's no guarantees that I'll listen (several of you know that about me already) but I'm willing to consider all nominations. I do realize that you can't be certain if another person is moderated, so there are no wrong answers.
It took me three years to eventually, and for no reason I could discern, get unmoderated, back a couple of years ago. Being moderated discouraged me from posting, and it sucked watching everyone that I knew be able to post real time, while I had to wait. Back then, we had a couple of hard-ass moderators for NY...asking to be unchained guaranteed being chained for an indefinite period until he decided, upon whatever whim, he would release you. Not cool when non-paying members have privileges, while you pay your dues, and are muzzled!
Being moderated proved to be real drawback as far as hobbying goes back then. But, not being able do things real time, always is. Fortunately, I made the right friends in NY, and was able to muddle through until being liberated.
I can't help but think that there is over-simplification with giving an answer here-to.
In any cyber-business,isn't the goal to prosper one's site. Given this,(while not necessarily assuming all is good)whatever generates that 'popularity'(if you will)is accepted whole-heartedly. Is it not?
While there are many that add to the jocularity(enjoyment) of Ter, It would be futile for me to zero in on a single entity.
I enjoy the additions of GaGambler(while not agreeing with everything),db911,Texcat...just to name a few.But you didn't ask for a few.
I was mod'ed for awhile. No worries.I can be baited if someone finds the proper button. If they do,please moderate.
unmoderate everyone until they cross the line and need to be moderated. This would be similar to DC having to moderate the jerk yesterday (don't remember if it was this board or the newbie board).
Isn't that what we all want here. More diversification, entertainment and who knows maybe your next date.
I say let the fun begin. Have them read the posting rules and let the rest of us do the babysitting. If someone does post something that doesn't belong here one of us will always run to the teacher to tattle-tale.
All I do is call up one of my personalities that is capable of understanding him and then let that personality transfer the information to a personality capable of clear thought -- who then writes the post and lets the core personality know.
When that doesn't work, I ask interpretive advice from one of the many voices in my head.
Just kidding, I am glad you enjoy some of what I have to contribute.
On that note, I would hope that MacDaddy is not moderated. I would hate to see her have any justification for the loathing she has for most hobbyists and the hobby in general.
Well I got UnMod very quickly because of my writing style and clarification/ explaining what I say and why.
I think that if you earn being UnMod it should have nothing to do with VIP. Being UnMod is for those of us that rarely fly off the handle and follow the rules here. Being Mod just means that you were inappropriate in a posting (and need to scale down what you had said)... Being too new... or the moderator overlooked the fact that you had earned the right ... It happens.
We all say stupid stuff but some do more then others. lol. Just because you are a paid VIP member does not mean that you have free reign to say anything you want or violate the board rules whenever you want. I am speaking in general here. Not about anyone inparticular.
And not to offend MDkiller, but I liken it to my Brain Fart moments, if you know what I mean! We all have those times when we make little to no sense even to ourselves. I have those kinds of days and even you, Hungry, have a few of them! Come on...admit it!!
His issue may be alcohol, drugs, a language barrier, a learning disability, or any number of other things. But, what I do know is that no matter how many smart comments we throw at him, he doesn't get mad and he keeps asking questions. So, I know at least 6 things about this man: 1. He's a good sport. 2. He's inquisitive. 3. He's interested in learning. 4. He's calm and even-tempered. 5. He has character. 6. He's good for this board and our little hobby community.
In general, this is how it turned out. A few people were named that are already free, so that was easy. Others were convincing enough to get a few released. Another person or two is on the "wait & see" list.
The unmoderate everybody idea goes beyond my scope. Besides, I no longer think that's a great idea. I can say that nobody has been put on "double secret probation" for any Animal House fans.
