Dear all,

I made a mistake of using my personal phone to reach out to providers. I got text messages with my name, home address and contact information coupled with threats. I panicked and deleted the messages, wiped them from phone/computer so that household doesn't stumble on them. I am freaking out here. Has this happened to anyone else before? Advice??? I am still panicking :(

Use a damned burner. Every. Time.

so basically anyone can find that information out. Yes, you should not use your a listed/register number if you're concerned about someone finding out but as far as this scam goes, just ignore it and move on.

If they start getting more serious about the threats go to the police. They are unlikely to challenge you're story to your wife or whoever in your household that you're worried about when you say you never called them. They will likely think you've done a great job of scaring yourself away from a life a vice. BUT they will be very interested in banking some extortion charge on their record of solved cases.

Pretty standard when your email and/or phone number get sold on the dark web.  Happened to me - and they're just looking for low-hanging fruit, and very likely won't even waste the effort to actually dox you, if you don't respond.  I just reported each incident as spam, blocked the number, and after about 6 months, they gave up.  Worst case, if they do reach out to your contacts (their typical threat), it's a well-documented common scam that anyone can fall afoul of, and easy to explain away.  Have an explanation ready - just in case.  Example attached as a link.  Good luck!

This happened to me. Person demanded 10k or I would be exposed to family, friends, and work. I deleted it and ignored. The person followed through. I denied everything and have had to deal with suspicious eyes ever since. It sucks.

That’s why using a well reviewed girl is so important. Those of us who are well reviewed and have a strong reputation would never do something like that because our reputation is everything. I never even hold onto my client’s personal information after I’m done screening them.
My advice is don’t respond or give into the threats they will most likely go away and in the future use girls who are well reviewed and established.

Sorry that happened to you. It’s interesting and strange that someone has followed through with that threat, as most seem to just disappear due to the fact that they have committed a felony by attempting to blackmail you and, if prosecuted, would end up with years in prison. What benefit is it to them to follow through and expose someone? They get nothing out of it

Yeah, I thought of bringing that stuff up when threatened. It was a pickle of a decision. I knew if I responded, there would be screenshots of me responding that could be shared. I decided to ignore the person so I could more easily deny I ever even got the text. There's a fair chance the person might have been someone I gave a crappy review. So, revenege may have been a factor. But I have no way to prove that either. Going to the law would draw more attention to the matter and make denying it nearly impossible.

They either had my name and phone number or got it, and more information, that I was unaware about on Mr. Number, which included my TER handle. This is why I changed my handle and use an alias now. From there, they did a Google Search. I actively got the information from Mr. Number removed and have unlisted my phone number. But I did this after learning the hard way.

$40-$50 a year, then throw it away.  Use it to validate the new phone first though.

I wonder if it is time to create a fake identity. I've had my own issues and have had so many horror stories. Ever since Covid providers feel comfortable either doxing clients or threatening clients. I wonder if the best strategy is to just go full fake. Get a fake ID, create a fake LinkedIn and get a burner going all to keep myself and my identity safe.
.
Somewhat unrelated, if a provider is harassing you ignoring it is usually the best solution. They usually calm down after a while and go away. However if someone just won't let something go, the best thing to do is hit them back where it hurts. Report their ads and their social media. If you can get an account or post taken down, even temporarily, they will stop. They think they can fuck with you, but if you start fucking with their income stream and advertising they'll realize they can get hurt as well.

Providers get my name and number. I have seen over 100, so that’s around. No one close to be has a clue about TER or Mr. Number. The person threatening me definitely got information from Mr. Number. A few providers who were mad about poor reviews posted negative stuff about me on Mr. Number. And, one went as far to post my TER username.

Having one’s name and number is enough to find names and numbers of family members. It’s also easy to find a person’s place of work. And, many places of work have directories and some, like mine, even have supervisor org charts. And finding a few friends isn’t that difficult. If you delist your phone number, it gets a little harder, since a lot of sites pull from listed number sites like the Yellow Pages online. But it’s not a complete solution.

Anyway, this person shared screenshots of stuff from Mr. Number and TER reviews. So it’s either a provider I saw or someone familiar with Mr. Number who targets people based on information being shared there. That’s about as much as I can narrow it down.

I use an app. My partner is fine with what I do.  If I had a significant other that didn’t approve. I’d go a different route depending on her intelligence level.

You can't always use a burner. AMPs use phone numbers to identify clients. If you constantly burn the number, you would have to re-screen each and every time to your favorite AMP.

and done the opposite of this.  I send the new number from the old number they already know and have them acknowledge they have corrected their records.  Then I also book one session with each agency I'm a regular with using the new number before I turn off the old phone.  Never had a problem doing it this way.

I've always used tracphones and as far as I can recall, you don't know your new number until you've activated the phone.  Being I always use the old phone to activate the new one, I'm at least 10 phones/connections away from tracing it back to the original phone regular phone that was used to activate the first burner.  If memory serves me, I think I gave some rando in the store parking lot $10 to use his phone to activate my first burner.

You have to activate the new phone first with a new account.  If it's not the same device, you can have them both on at the same time with a different number.  You have to switch phones when you switch numbers in order for my method to work.  You can have a period of a month or two to get your new number working with all of the bookers and providers you want to continue seeing with the new number.  It's also the opportune time to leave any you don't want to do business with in the future behind.  When you turn off the old phone number, you are anonymous to all but the ones you CHOOSE to bring with you to the new number before deactivating the old one.

Not that I am questioning the validity of your story, but I am still not understanding what this individual would have gained from telling your friends and family? The whole point of blackmailing someone is to extract either money of information from someone. If you coughed up either, what was the purpose? OK, now your friends and family know you see escorts. Now what? What possible motive would this "provider" have at this point? I think someone else said that this sounds like an inside job, sour coworker/ex GF/etc. which sounds way more plausible. If I were to find out who you are and told you I would expose you if you don't give me $5,000 today and you don't send it to me if I post your info I don't have anymore leverage. How would I get the 5K from you at this point? The damage was done. I don't know you, so I am not going to get any personal satisfaction from outing you. Again, does not make any sense from the complete provider/client interface.

These are fair questions. This is why my lean is that it's a provider who I gave a poor review. I even have an idea which one it may be, but other than my gut can't prove it. Not much I can do with what I cannot prove. But this provider was vocally pissed when I gave her a poor review. She sent me some really nasty text messages. This was months, maybe even a year, before the extortion incident. I tried reverse looking up the number she used for extortion. That didn't help me.

I'm not sure what she was thinking, but she had to know that there wasn't a great chance I would turn over 10k. But who knows what other people think. And, TBH, there was never a guarantee even if I did give the money that she would have not exposed me. If all she cared about was the money, you're right, what was the point? But I'm guessing she cared about revenge, and this was her way of getting me for the bad review. But as you can see, I can only guess/speculate. I'm not in her head. I'm not 100% sure who she is. And I am limited by what I know, which obviously isn't everything in this story.

I'm confused why Scarlett questions this. We've seen plenty of examples of providers doxing clients on social media over a cancelled appointment. There was a provider a few months ago having a meltdown on this board and her social media was a mess. Tons of client information being exposed all because the provider was clearly experiencing a mental health crisis.

team_rocket_qwerty 35 Reviews 123 reads

It's almost like a novelty to some that people are spiteful. And some providers treat doxxing like its normal. Like a client does something thay don't approve of, bam. And since there's no repercussion for it, they'll just keep on doing it at a whim.

And preemptively, no, nitpicking someone's performance in a review of something you paid for, is never going to be equal to doxxing someone publicly just because you don't like something that they have done. Like canceled an appointment.

If they are dangerous, and did something to physically hurt you etc, obviously it's fine. But it happens a lot with providers who simply want to get back at clients. And that's scary. And that's why clients are more reluctant to provide pii.... who knows when you will step on a landmine that will blow up in your face.

WIMissScarlet See my TER Reviews 132 reads

You are correct. I do often times look at things from my personal perspective, as in I would never do something like that so I can't imagine another provider would do that, which is something I need to work on. And yes, the doxxing of clients (or black listing, for that matter) over stupid trivial garbage is wrong and should not be happening. And spell my damn name right buddy! I have been posting on this damn website for years now!!!!

I had a scary situation back in June.  I got a text out of nowhere after 9pm EST that mentioned where I lived, worked and a family matter that happened back in the spring.  It had a picture of my home and address.  It said something along the lines of we know you've hired ladies in the past and even some you didn't.
Earlier that day I'd emailed two ladies and one did write back saying she no longer wanted to communicate since we didn't meet in the past year.   Coincidence?  Her email reply to me was cordial and nothing threatening but the text was specific about "ladies you didn't meet with but kinda strung along'.  I ignored the texts and then the following morning I got another with a screen shot of the higher ups email addresses.  I just ignored again and deleted the texts.  They did threaten to expose if I didn't reply.  I never heard again but I can see why folks be worried.  I am not mentioning the ladies names I contacted because I can't prove they might have been involved or if TER would allow.

so far so good.   Like others have mentioned most times they are doing this to many people and hoping someone replies.  I am now just sticking with ladies I've met in the past, escort and fetish, and not looking at trying to find new ladies to meet.  The timing was uncanny and the lady who I think was involved is disappointing because all our contacts were cordial and I even sent her a gift because I was unable to meet up the time she visited near me.  And by near I mean 2 or 3 hours away.

Happening to me now.  Every day they are escalating it.  Texted me a copy of all my personal info that contained my family and weirdly enough people I may know (people I sold my house to and who I bought it from).  That was the first text.  Todays text went out to those people I may know saying "Do you know Alec likes to see hookers?"  They said it will only get worse so tomorrow it will probably be my family.  I can probably excuse it away since this is getting common but, regardless, I'm done with this hobby.
