So after the right on Central, you mention another right.  Having never been there, I'm not clear about where to make this second right?  Thanks.

Also wondering if time of year matters?  My brother and I are thinking about heading down there in next month or so.  Better to make Delrey reservation on line, or something else?  Thanks.

The Del Rey still is a mongers paradise, but you rarely see over a hundred women at any one time. the prices you mention are reasonably accurate and current. You can do a little better tha $100 hr, but that requires negotiating, and most TER members have been browbeaten by American women not to negotiate. lol

The MP are not hidden for any secrecy reasons, there are a half dozen MP within walking distance of the Del Rey, and while there rates are quite low, you get what you pay for. IMO 7's and 8's are the best you will do in an MP.

Tica refers to any Costa Rican woman, likewise Costa Rican men are referred to as Ticos. There are also many women from Nicaragua, (Nicas) the Dominican Republic (Dominicas) and at times Colombia (Colombiannas), Over the last couple of years Costa Rican immigration have been running off the Colombiannas, which is a crying shame and one of the main reasons I travel to Colombia as often as I do to CR.

While speaking Spanish is helpful, about a third of the chicas speak at least passable English, and many are fluent. Command of the Spanish language is far from a prerequsite for traveling to Costa Rica. Over 1% of the population are ex patriate Americans, over 50.000 gringos in a country of about 4 million.

I normally stay at the Del Rey itself. It is hardly luxury accomodations, about on par with the Sportmans Club, but a little more expensive, cheapest rooms start at about $79 US and go up to about $150 for a suite with a balcony on the sixth floor, still a relative bargain considering the number of chicas downstairs. lol The nearest "nice" hotel would be the El Presidente, the rooms are much nicer, but you don't have the luxury of simply paying a "chica fee" and taking the lady of your choice upstairs like you can at the Del Rey.

FWIW I have been to Costa Rica between ten and twenty times a year for the last five years or so. I rarely go more than a couple of months between visits until recently. Now sometimes I will not make it for three months or so because of my many visits to Panama and Colombia

I have noticed a slight decline over summer months..I hit Costa Rica on superbowl,halloween , and other peak times..As a Monger your input is always better than mine because you have access to even more stuff..I forgot on my report that some hotels charge the chica fee..The presidente is up to $40 dollars..

Auusie Gregs, or the VIP? Medellin flat rocks. I have stated many times that the hottest women in Latin America are the Colombiannas, but the hottest of the hottest are in Medellin.

One thing about the MPs, as you alluded to they are rather difficult to find as only the Europa and Fantasy have actual signs. You will find the same thing in the "casas" in Medellin and other cities in Colombia, they are forbidden to advertise and as such can be rather difficult to find. I do have to disagree with you about the MP's, most of the chicas there are barely fives or sixes IMO. the best you can really hope for is an occansional seven, or a very, very rare 8. The Del Rey and Key Largo chicas are much, much hotter. I don't know about the rest of you, but I don't travel thousands of miles to fuck ugly, or even average women.

Are you sure about the chica fee at the Presidente? I have not heard about them charging that much as a chica fee. One other word about chica fees, the Sleep Inn next to the Del Rey does charge $25 and only allows one "guest" at a time. FWIW the chica fee at the Del Rey is 5,000 colones, or about 10 bucks. I stayed there for ten straight days once and ran up a "chica fee" bill of four hundred bucks on top of my other expenses. I saw forty different chicas that ten day trip. lol

One further word of advice, I would not recommend anyone who either does not speak Spanish or is not a very experienced traveler to go to Colombia. Start with Costa Rica or the DR first, they are much more used to catering to gringos. Colombia can be difficult to navigate if you aren't used to being in a Spanish speaking country

As to photos, every one who knows me knows what a selfish pig I am. Some hotels are known as "chica friendly" and other charge some rather high rates for you to share your room with the lady (or ladies) of your choice.

The one benefit I can think of, is that if you get drunk and can't remember how many chicas you did the night before, the hotel will have a record of it. lol

One other thing about chica fees that does actually work to your benefit. The hotels hold the ID's of any prositutes you bring to your room and keep a permanent record of her name and passport number. This cuts down on "trick rolling" considerably. Just one of the benefits of legal prostitution.

It is close to the downtown area, cultural centers and a lot of other points of interest. Plus it is only three blocks from the Del Rey via a corridor mall cut through onto the Del Rey street. I just prefer to be away from the 24 hour busy and sometimes load carrying on at the Del Rey. The El Presidente rooms are very nice. I have gotten spa suites there in the off season (February) for $70/night.

I don't like walking Tica's back to my hotel from the Del Rey in the night time hours although I have. You just do not want to venture out on the streets at night alone in Costa Rica, trust me. Another reason I love the El Presidente is the News Cafe 1st floor with tables on main street, where one time I picked up a Tica in the morning who was just walking by. She worked at a mercado several blocks away, but we hooked up for an all nighter $100, plus breakfast the next morning. She wanted to come back that night, but I was off pulling a GaGambler. lmfao

I do not have the sexual prowess of GaGambler doing 4-5 Tica's a day. Maybe 1 or on a good day 2 is all I can handle. Wish I had the stamina, but I have to be real. lmao I once had a Tica for 4 days and that was one of the best times on CR I ever spent. We traveled the country saw many beautiful features of that marvelous country. Made a deal for $100/day for 4 days. I could have easily spent double that at the Del Rey, but had way more fun visiting the coffee plantations and the huge Arenal Volcano  http://www.arenal.net/photo-gallery.htm in the rain forest and just visiting with the locals. It was that way I came to love the Costa Rican people and the country, not just the hookers.  I admit I did pick her up at the Del Rey though. Careful of too much involvement with any nationality but especially a Tica as they will almost immediately consider you her novio for real. lol

There was never a problem walking a Tica back to the El Presidente. The security was quite familiar with my goings on. Just take her to the security desk in the hall provide the passport or id if local and hit the elevator. When she leaves she has to go back and pick up her id.

Lots of fun to be had in Costa Rica and on the pacific side there is deep sea fishing albeit catch and release, where you can charter a marlin fishing expedition. I never tried it, but was thinking of hooking up with a Tica and taking her deep sea fishing for he day. Darn

IMO it is a much, much nicer hotel than the Del Rey, but I am a pig, and I often see two or three different chicas during the course of an evening. I don't like having to walk the streets of San Jose at night anymore than you do. At least the El Presidente is in the right direction, you go the other way towards the park and your odds of getting rolled by a tranny are about fifty fifty. lol

I truly miss the days of just a few years ago when the Key Largo was full of "semi pro" ticas and there were Colombiannas by the hundreds. Oh well Costa Rica, even in it's present form still beats the hell out of most other vacation destinations.

So how many trips have you made since you always stay at the El Presidente.

I had heard that they are not very monger friendly these days and see that someone posted they had a chica fee. That was not the case when i last went there a few years ago. It was a choice hotel to stay at then and eating at the rail overlooking the street was a very pleasant way to start a day. The walk from the Del Rey was not as bad as it looked at night but stay away from the park...lol.

This thread brought back a lot of pleasant memories. Oh and smarty, we're getting too old for that much action....LMFAO

You're just a pup and still got some good years ahead of you. I'm just shy of 70 and smarty is trailing me by a bit but he looks older....lol. The last time i went to CR , i was doing  3 or 4 a day but started to run dry by the end of the week. At least ED meds are very reasonable down there.

The bartenders were the hottest girls down there but generally unavailable and very friendly. I would have paid double for most of them.

My advise for anyone going down there for the first time is to join costaricaticas.com, get a vip membership and read read read. As i recall, the members of the forum had an area in the Blue Marlin Bar in the Del Rey. Meet them and they gladly give advice.

I remember the first time I was in CR, there was an old guy (well over 70) at the Blue Marlin waving a handful of yellow pills in one hand (Levitra) and a fistful of blue ones in the other (Viagra) bragging about how he was "spending his kids inheritance" lmao

Damn, I have had some great times in that country.

One other thing I failed to mention. The Blue Marlin has become very "tico friendly" as of late. The days of no one but gringos and chicas at the bar seem to be no more. I don't know why ticos would want to frequent the Del Rey, not at the prices they charge now, but you will see many of them at the bar at all hours now.

Jessica and Christina now work at Chappys, a new sports bar right next to the Sleep Inn, and there are only one or two bartenders at the Del Rey who have been there more than six months or so. The place has changed dramatically over the last several months, but you can still have a great time.

It is a very good place to get yourself killed, and yes people have been killed there by the very same trannies that you claim have "no punch" I am no pussy and I walk the streets of Bogota and Medellin with impunity, but even I avoid that particular park at night, unless armed or with at least one or two friends.
