'The Box'
“Conventional opinion is the ruin of our souls.”
One of the most valuable contributions we can all make is to utilize that part of our brain that functions outside of routine thinking, apathy, and resignation. When we live in that lower realm of thinking, and continue to try to solve problems from that perspective, we stay stuck. If we wish to evolve beyond the challenge/problem, we must evolve first to a thinking process that goes beyond the realm of thinking that created the problems in the first place.
"The real voyage of discovery consists not in seeking new landscapes but in having new eyes."
Below is an article and discussion about 'Thinking Outside the Box'
* Think Outside The Box: Fluid Intelligence And The Ability To Question Your Own Beliefs - http://feeds.feedburner.com/~r/Robin-Good-Latest-News/~3/186232985/think_outside_the_box_fluid.htm
The ability to change, to inspire others and to seed ideas that will contribute to make our planet a better place, are very close to those reading these pages. Sharewood and my idea of helping independent publishers stems from the very desire to help others, helping them become their own bosses and agents of change.
A few of you may already know that the key reason they are now here is to change agents ushering the rest of us in a new paradigm for humanity.
I think that change starts from each one of us and from the simple actions and choices we make daily.
To change the world you have got to start from yourself. If you can't or you are unwilling to question and change your own assumptions and beliefs, then you should not expect the rest of the world to be so open to your passionate crusades.
Fluid intelligence has little to do with IQ or "book" intelligence. Fluid intelligence is "the ability to step outside of our beliefs and consider information which does not fit into our previously accepted view of reality."
Given the level of social, cultural and media conditioning we have all unconsciously received, this is a information-computing trait of your brain that would be worth cultivating for mere strategic reasons. If you can't step outside your own computing box or you can't question the very assumptions that determine the way your perceive life all around you, how can you ever expect to make change happen?
Fluid intelligence is all about not getting stuck with one set of ideas for life. Maintaining in good health the flexibility of your reasoning and mental computing system, today is as critical as periodically changing the oil in your car engine.
Questioning reality, being critical of mainstream media reporting and news, asking deeper and uncomfortable questions about the truth why of some of our major problems can only lead you to know more and to be able to cope with more.
Taking reality for granted, as a given objective "thing" sitting out there, is the equivalent if signing now your testament to life and your surrender to realize yourself, as a true participant, in the wonderful game of life going on on this planet.
Cultivating, understanding and nurturing open-mindedness is the greatest safeguard to the very threats and possible disasters we are running into head on at this very time. The enemy is us.

Such as decriminalization, nc/ns, safety issues, stealing, discretion issues....these problems are just the ones that have been addressed on this board in the past 48 hours.
When I don't understand something, I ask questions. Asking questions doesn't make anyone look stupid or dumb. And, if you don't understand what I am saying, how would you know which board it belongs on?

My really hot , inherently beautiful buddie - Myles..
works, part- time at the coffee bean in Brentwood Ca.
There's a slue of really rich , b-eau-ti-ful middle eastern women who frequent this place in the mornings.
(He makes more money in tips, than most dancer I know.)
Today, I visited him and I watched him do "his thing" And noticed that quite a few of these very wealthy, well dressed -in designer fashions and head-to-toe in jewels were ...
Over the top..- really rude , but oddly - just to him.
The last one I watched was literally snarling at him the entire time he was making-and -shaking her coffee .
When he called her name and handed it to her -
(with those giant hands and big- blue eyes )
She growled, flipped her hair and said in demonic tone;
"Mahke-MhyCoffheeh-Hhotttahhha"
So he did with a bright smile, and handed it back to her .
"thank you " was what I -was expecting.
But, instead- She grunted, slammed a 10 dollar bill to the counter , Spun around and did an "impatient stomping waltz"
out the door. (Whaaa?)
Why are these women so hostile ? then leave such a big tip with a dirty look? He laughed and said ;
"They're not pissed.She was flirting-Obnoxious is her Sexy "
Your writtings maybe better received if you say less and mean more
When I get a box I use it as a seat to sit on as I think The box does have it's uses after all
I found some of you writtings to be very boxed up and packaged neatly actually .I wonder if you found you were able to remove yourself from some of your feelings take a look at the big picture and possibly come outside of your box and consider the view from there?
Or if you were unable to abandon your views even briefly. Kendall
"Formerly no one was allowed to think freely; now it is permitted, but no one is capable of it any more. Now people want to think only what they are supposed to think, and this they consider freedom."
-- Oswald Spengler
Kendall I am not sure how much further outside the box I could get, considering the box that I was given and where I am standing now.
Further, I can't think of anything more meaningful or substantive to contribute than presenting an article about the value of having an open mind and questioning the reality that we create for ourselves every day with every choice we make. Those are not my feelings. Very little of my post was my own writing. If you take a second look, most of the post was written by someone else and I gave credit to the author or put quotation marks around the statements that did not belong to me.
These are not my views that I expressed. Those are the profound statements of great philosophers...usually people become inspired by their words.
If you are uninspired, can't understand, or are uninterested in creativity and innovation, I accept that. You are thinking and behaving as you are "supposed to behave and think"...I even accept that you will continue to personally attack me because people who are resigned and stuck in the way things are can be very aggressive towards any sort of change agent that threatens the comfort zone in which they live. I do not take personal, your personal attacks...so carry on if you must, I would never have the desire to limit or restrict the expression or freedom of any woman.
According to Aristotelian logic, the lowest form of argument is name calling and hostile language. People resort to this form of argument when they have nothing else of substance to counter what their sparing partner is saying. This is called "argument ad hominem" which means attack against the person. When you attack against the person you are lacking in logic and reason.
If you are going to disagree with me, please disagree with something of substance. Counter my facts and research with your own facts and research. Don't simply call me names or make insulting implications. I have no interest in engaging in such a stupid dialogue.
And, whoever told you that intelligent articulation was obnoxious lied to you. What most people find obnoxious is disrespect and closed mindedness. If I were anything like those women you described in your story, do you think I would bother myself with the shit you throw at me day after day, yet alone respond to it with kindness and compassion the way that I have?
I was born into the opportunity of being one of those women yet I choose to be here instead. That alone makes me entitled to, at the very least, the same respect that I show you. Do not mistake my kind responses to your vicious attacks as weakness, my friend. For it takes A LOT more strength to love in the face of hate than it does to indulge in the hatred that you spew.
Wutttt??? But showing it...Is usually how I win.
