I typically like to stay with the ladies who have a number of reviews by the guys who have been around a while, but occasionally, I will go with my gut feel. I know what I'm looking for, as far as services, age group, etc. and if a lady has gone through the effort to put together a nice website, I've found that my gut feel hasn't been too far off. It's usually the spur of the moment decisions that tend to blow up up in your face. Know what you want, do your homework, and you'll do fine.
I'm curios about the rules you have pertaining to the hobby. Mine have been very simple.
1. I will only see a provider with a minimum of 4 TER reviews. She must rate between 7 to 10 in the performance category (average) to be considered.
2. Reviews must be submitted by a hobbiests who has at least 4 TER approved/posted reviews.
3. The provider must have an incall location.
Unfortunately, I broke one of my own rules this past weekend. I saw an provider who was not reviewed but was brand new to an agency that I had used previously with great success. Needless to say although she was a beautiful girl 9+ appearance level her performance was the lowest I have experienced (lets just say NOT a GFE).
I look for reviews. The number is less important to me than who they are from and weather I can cross reference the lady to a website of her own. I recently saw a lady in Santa Monica who was brand new, had only one review and the review was from a guy who only had a couple of reviews. She was beautiful, just my type and I was horny and on the road so I rolled the dice. I had a great time but I freely admit to doing the same thing in Orlando last summer and having a not so great time.
I use on particular agency in Boston quite a lot. I see new girls from the agency even if they have no reviews because I trust the judgment of the agency. If I do have an occasional bad time they make it up to me with a discounted appointment with another gal. You can't ask for more than that!
The longer you do this and the more girls you see the easier it becomes to trust your judgment. It also becomes easier to put a so so date in perspective and move on...Heck, I even shop on Craig's List once in a while...

H - you are absolutely right. It was a short notice appointment. That many be rule #4. Prescheduled appointments only. It does seem that with a little advanced planning things do seem to work out best.
As for age. My recent experience was with the youngest provider that I have seen. I many also be adding 25+ guideline to my rule book as the 25 to 35 providers I have seen have been fantastic.
Sometimes 2 people just don't click. I wouldn't discount a whole age group just off of one appointment.
Good advice on the prescheduling... I personally like advanced notice so I don't rush around and have to deal with just having come from the gym and all tired and someone trying to get me to see them within the hour across town. It's too much stress. I can't get ready within an hour if I tried! lol.
Katielady is absolutely right. Listen to her. I didn't mean to lock yourself into one age group. I only meant to know what your looking for on that particular date. If you lock yourself into any one thing, be it age, ethnicity, body type, then you may as well stay home, where the rules are already in place. I'm guessing that you are a bit younger than most of us, but don't let that keep you from exploring. You may find that a woman in her mid forties can provide you with an unforgettable evening, just as I have found and connected with some ladies who were considerably younger than me. Even with the difference in age, I have seen some extremely interesting young ladies, and shared some common interests that made for very memorable evenings.
