Even though this looks like a non-responsive response, that's not what's intended. I was ruined by actually paying attention in Economics class!

I'd recommend experimentation. It really is supply and demand. You still presumably have the same supply quantity of your "product."  Evidently  the crappy economy makes it more difficult for clients to pay, and consequently demand is soft. (double entendre not REALLY intended)

Reduce the gift rates by some amount that's easy for you to swallow (ok, THAT was on purpose),  something reasonable you could live with, 10%, 15% 20%. Then see if business improves. If not, reduce the rate some more. Repeat until you have the intended result.

Right now....

4.19 is good for regular
4.29 is good for medium
4.39 is good for premium

but it changes from day to day.

Gas is eating up all my spending $$$

It varies from city to city.  The highest rates are in Vegas, with East Coast and California in second place.  The lowest rates are in rural areas far from major cities.

In response to GeneralRipper,
I think there are some things that Economics class did not teach you.
Maybe a class in marketing would have helped. You have to take in account a few other things in setting a price for your product.
One thing is perceived value. I have seen several ladies increase their business just simply by raising their prices. I know a lady that was $200 an hour and struggling to get by. When she raised her fee to $350 her business picked right up. At $200 a lot of guys thought that something might be wrong with her or that at that rate she may be low-end or too high volume. $350 was a respectable rate for her area and gave her a better image.
There are other things that can increase perceived value. If a lady has a free web-site or none at all, she may be a wonderful lady but since she doesn't invest in her image then there are people who are not going to invest in her.

And, even though we have "the same supply quantity of your product", It can be packaged and presented in so many ways. The product may BE the same but since we are not inanimate objects you cannot assume that the quality is going to be consistent. All of this being said, choosing a "rate" for your service is not just a matter of math. You have to decide on a number that is just right for you. There comes a point when you wont be turning out the kind of quality that makes you proud of your work if you just choose your price by what the market will bare. You have to decide on who you want to market to and choose a business model that compliments your vision.

the best deal for you is to keep them cumming back.

I'm a low volume lady and see mostly the same people all the time. Yes my price is on the lower side of mid-grade for most but it is what my friends can afford.

You didn't mention what type of area you are from.... I am located in a tourist area.

I cater to my locals with price and for the gentlemen from out of town convenience. Out of towner rates are higher.

management committee in a large corporation - just a couple of years back....

Heather is quite right... a simple experiment in a dental school I was familiar with demonstrated that Heather's comments kinda apply across the board.  Dental and Medical and Veterinary schools ALL have to have patients (clients) to teach their craft to their students.  Often this means the poor... in one dental school - they charged $0.0 per visit - check-ups, restorations, x-rays, cleanings, the works.  When they charged $0.0 - patients oft failed to show up- or showed up late... (sound familiar?).  This was costing them in terms of faculty time... what to do.  They decided to impose a modest fee (started at $2 a visit and I think it is now, 40 years later, up to about $10 a visit...)  what happened surprised everyone... patient compliance increased...  to almost 100%!  They did market surveys to determine what had happened....  it was simple... when they charged $0.0 - the patient's perception was that the service (and the provider's time) was worth - exactly what was charged - that is nothing.  When a fee was associated with the service - no matter how modest... well - the perception was the service was worth something....   perception - often more than reality sets the price point.

think of it....   high end cosmetics are simply oil/water emulsions... and economy priced cosmetics are simply oil/water emulsions.... same stuff... different branding, marketing and price.

But lets bring it back to this profession.  Pornstars charge what they charge because they can.  They don't really do anything much different....  well there was this one....  opps off track there....  than a GFE, but the hype is that this is a gal who is "famous" therefore she must be worth a bit more.

Heather.... always impressed!

I feel that a private website may be an unreasonable demand.
What is the use of making all that money just to end up on the news and have it all confiscated?
I always refused to have a website and actually did much better before I put one up.
Maybe I should change my number and name and go back to the way I did things in the beginning.

IMO, if you are VERY exceptional, you can command a minimum of $$$-$$$$/hr , anywhere.

Take this advice and run with it.  I wish I had it when I started my business.  Things were slow for 2 years and then I got advice to bump my day rate from $200 to $500.00.  I thought he was crazy but he said that my next phone call to come in, when they ask my rate tell them 500.  About a few minutes later the phone rang and I was asked the question.  I responded 500 and he wanted to know when I could start.  This was 25 years ago but you get the idea.  Turned out that few people called because my rate was so cheap that they thought I was a hack, a flake or had no idea what I was doing.  I usually was hired for a few days but this job lasted for months.  I never looked back.  I left $300 on the table EVERY DAY for years.  If I had paid that person $10,000.00 for that advice, it still would have been worth it.  You and I are both getting it for free.  This could change your life.  Best of luck..

Gee, Heather,
thanks for the condescension.
made my day.

yeah, i get all that, Heather. neither of our recommendations is complete on its own, nor are they complete in aggregate. my was intended to be simple and it IS econ 101.

i happen to have studied some Marketing as well, getting my MBA at Columbia. then again, I've also PRACTICED a fair amount of marketing, having created national campaigns with which you are doubtlessly familiar, but MY qualifications are not the point in my reply to your reply.

my point is ... WHY be so snarky?
that's just ugly.

GR
Oh I'm sorry sweetie. That was not, and would never be my intent. This is the thing I hate about writing. Sometimes you can't talk in jest because it sounds too harsh. Maybe one of those smileys or a LOL would have softened it a bit.

Maybe I was on a bit of a rant. Again, I'm sorry. I probably could have found a better way of expressing my disagreement with you. I will try to be more thoughtful in the future.
