They still exist in NYC--a couple of them--in the 1940s style.  I went to one about a year ago and it was a hoot.  For those of us who are fans of ballroom dancing, it is about the only way to find someone who is skilled in the dancing arts.  I'm sure there are places that pose as dance halls but are fronts for more adult activity but that wasn't what I was looking for that night.

Last week a poster mentioned going to  a burlesque show.

That make me think of something just as dated - taxi dancers.

Do they even exist in the US anymore?  What are those places called?  Taxi Dance Halls?

Anyone ever have any experience with one in any way?

Just idol curiosity.

I am a big fan of ballroom dancing . I would love to find a place in NYC that has just that ..

I like the other dancing too ;) but ballroom dancing is such a delight .
