Would this be a good idea?  Good for the economy, new job opportunity for women ... happier society?

Escort service providers will be on government payroll; it will be a government sponsored service competing with the private sector.

If feasible, maybe a new consumer sector will start to emerge: some women may seek P4P.

All good? or what?

gov bill engler laude his program that helped get welfare mother off the roles and into jobs.somebody asked if he could get the girls jobs at strippers.

his lame response. "well,we would not know how to place them"

The legal escorting services, or the illegal escorting services? If they r sponsoring the legal escorts, don't no body gonna want those providers. If they r stimulating the illegal escorts, then they r breaking the law. Humm....

Far better idea for them to create an agency to regulate it that operates on a fraction of the revenue they'd earn from taxing it. This'd take a lot of girls off the streets, reduce victimization of sex workers, eliminate a lot of pimps / related fueled crimes & terrorism that might be sponsored and encouraged by these pimps, etc.

The gov't would be responsible for drug testing the girls who do work in a legal manner (thus reducing the amt of money exiting the legit/taxable system vis-a-vis the drug trade and reducing the societal/net economic damage caused by meth-head or heroin addict escorts), test them for various diseases and keep tabs on them regularly via someone who operates something like a PO. It could be a wing of our current probation/parole system, as that system already handles a lot of these tasks (regular mandatory drug testing, checking up on employment status, etc.). In exchange, the gov't would allow these girls to operate through collective agencies (which are also watched, kind of like state & federal (Indian) gaming commissions make sure casinos dont evade taxes, for the most part :-). It'd probably be a wing of the gaming commissions that'd be responsible for making sure the 'agencies' that are approved to escort out these girls dont evade taxes.

Eventually, escorting could be moved to an industry that is not cash-dominated (i.e., one would be expected to charge such transactions to their credit/debit card) thus making it preferred and less prone to tax evasion and cash robberies than even currently legal strip clubs are. I mean, they're already doing this in Henderson county, Nevada; why not expand it out? The resources  & infrastructure to manage it already exist (our parole/probation system, gaming commissions & the Dept of Treasury's FCEN)
