I was talking to the pyro guy at the show I was working today, and he made a couple of good comments about the whole thing.  First of all, NO building, particularly a public building, should be engulfed in flames in 3 minutes.  For that, the club owner and whatever fire marshal let that building stay open are culpable.  Secondly, DO NOT set off pyro without a trained technician, or at least a fire extinguisher.  Thirdly, NEVER set off a fifteen foot effect in a room with a nine foot ceiling.

Pyro can be really cool when it is done well, by trained technicians.  These guys are federally licensed, are VERY smart, and VERY safe.  Don't be afraid of REAL pyro, just the idiots who do it in clubs.  

You can always tell a good pyro guy.  The first thing he does when he walks into the room is take out a fire extinguisher.
