As I have spent more time at TER the last few months, I have realized how difficult a task that the moderators have here. The lines get blurred sometimes between providers and hobbyists and sometimes someone get hurts or has too much emotion. Not me, btw, but I have been on the other side of it.

And the poor mod has to hash it all out.

It seems very difficult for someone on the outside to try and figure out what is going on because both hobbyist and providers are not always articulate in their posts. Emotions sometines flare and they have to try to appease both sides in a fair manner based on limited or poorly stated information.

It has to be tough. I don't want that job.

i agree..they do an excellent job of separating the wheat from the chaff..unfortunately there has been an overabundance of chaff here lately..

...there used to be. Once upon a time the board moderators were volunteers and we knew the handles of those that moderated each board. Now we do have moderators but they work for TER. Are there individual ones for each board or are there several that just go about moderating all boards? I don't know.
Whoever it is or however many there are I can't imagine it's easy to do.

I'm sure there will be differing points of view on your post.

I am intersted to know...I have been with TER for 4 years, but only recently got into the boards. Today a mod did something I felt fair, which is why I posted.

When there were individual moderators, each city and national board had its own moderator.  While some covered more than one board, there still were more than 20 moderators.  I don't believe TER has the staff to cover the boards as the hobbyist mods did, so it is important that we police ourselves.

...the cities they moderated.  They also knew the idiosyncrasies of the posters in their cities.  At first, I thought TER couldn't possibly do as good a job as local moderators but they're doing okay with our help.

If you think I'm just kissing ass, I can tell you I've had several disagreements with TER over posting policy and faced a lengthy suspension for my (alleged,lol) behavior.

and they kept the boards like a "community" that understood its own.

 The current "report a post" can only benefit if the acting moderator cares, and is on his game; otherwise it is an easily abused scythe to free speech
 The current corporate 'moderator of the day' concept is a bit impersonal and can only be truly understood by a culture that allows a traffic camera to say "YOU are driving too fast; PAY UP!"

There are no board mods. TER ousted the volunteer mods 7 months ago. Moderating is done by admin, and usually only due to posts being reported, as papason said. Everyone is a moderator now!

Now I kind of wish I was around before when the local mods were present. It's like I missed out. Maybe this thread will prompt TER to reevaluate how they adminster the boards.

I am new to the boards, so maybe give me a break But I think maybe this thread will evoke some thought about how the boards are managed. It seems like some are upset by how the boards are being moderated.

It's all good and maybe worthwhile of discussion.

Yep, I lied about my log in name. Guilty as charged!!! No wives, never had one, no kids either. I am as single as single fucking gets.

In the spirit of transparancy and making providers feel safe, I have always tried to get to the point where I can give them my personal, real email address. I want them to feel safe and this is a part of that. My email address includes my full name.

Fast forward to last week. My football buddy sends me a link that I later find out is a is a bot email.

It invades my outlook account and starts to email my elders, friends, ex girlfriends and coworkers. In the email addresses of my contacts are words like "fantasy, lustful, sexy courtsean, slut and even fucking hooker!" They were all cc'd.

Coworkers saw this, so the cat is out of the bag. It's all cool though because my boss grew up in Socal in the seventies and he knows that I am single as fuck. I asked him if I could cruise to Vegas some day early this week to have fun....his repsonse, "you betcha" LoL!

Still though, you chics gotta dump those saucy email addresses. No guy that you want to be with will get turned on by an email addy. It really is retarded!
