It's too much work for basic functionality that is implemented on every platform that has "likes". It's a design issue.

Not to mention, the likes are anonymous. Imagine a post of someone poster X loathes gets a like. Then poster X comes out and says hey I liked your post on accident, you really didn't get any likes and everyone disagrees with you etc etc. Petty? Yes, but possible.

and do you check your own reviews for LIKES? Seriously, what's the point?

Personally, I'd rather have a Bullshit button to call out extreme shill/fake reviews. Case in point:

I know that used to be on reviews, but I haven’t seen a LIKE button for as long as I can remember.

with VIP membership, which you can get a whole year of for less than the price of a one-hour session with a reasonably decent provider.   I could be wrong, but I don't think so, because I have always had a "like" button, but I have never had a basic membership.  I will not denigrate you for not having VIP.  Everyone should stay within their own budget where they are comfortable when it comes to a hobby like this.

...in order to have an alias.  Ergo, "Steve_Trevor" is a VIP member.  I will not denigrate you for not knowing this even though you have been a VIP member since 2008.  Everyone should stay with their own mental capabilities where they are comfortable when it comes to posting on this board.

that you can’t block an alias. You can do so virtually by ignoring their posts, but he’s incapable of that, as we can see above, because he has to get his digs in no matter what.

to the non-denigration club.  Did you ever find your "like" button?  Maybe you left it in the men's room.  Lol

I knew I could not block an alias.  I've posted about it on another board years ago, but I didn't think YOU knew about it, so the effect would be the same for me, and yes I have been virtually ignoring you, and will continue because, even though you have many opinions, you contribute little here in the way of substantive information about this biz.  You should kiss BigP's ass for coming to the rescue on your lack of knowledge.  You know you have hit bottom when BigP is your white knight.  At ease, soldier.  Lol

Oh, and thank you for outing yourself that you DO have VIP and still couldn't find the "Like" button.  Maybe look for it next time before you post on a public board asking where it went.  It doesn't instill a sense of confidence that you are all there mentally.

You’ve stated twice now that you’ll ignore my posts. But clearly you have a problem keeping your word.

I reported the problem to TER and after some digging found out that the problem is due to how reviews are displayed on iPads (maybe iPhones too but I don’t use my phone to access TER).  When the iPad is in portrait mode, which I always use with TER, the Like button doesn’t appear at all.  When it’s flipped to landscape mode, the top 20% or so of the button appears but not the whole button.  I’ll see what TER can do about that as it’s likely affecting other users besides me.  I’d be interested to hear if any other iPad users have this issue.

And as is also typical for you… you’re wrong.  Again.

that you are using an iPad rather than a real PC.  I think an iPad affords you an extra level of anonymity.  As you just confessed, your iPad is not capable of capturing the full TER experience.  Who knows what else you are missing and don't know it?  If other users had the same problem, someone would have brought it up by now.  Once again, you have proven yourself unique in the world of mongering.  I wonder if your white knight will help you out again?  It's pretty clear he doesn't have much confidence that you can hold your own without his help.  Go ahead and have the last word.  It's what you live for.  Lack of pussy does that to a man.    Lol

Steve_Trevor97 reads

times you’ve broken your word, just on this one subject.  At least now we know for certain we should never believe anything you say… as if we haven’t learned that by now.

It’s sad you have nothing better to do than obsess about someone using an iPad instead of a PC.  FYI… it’s the 21st century. Lots of people use devices other than PCs to access the web.  I’m hardly unique in that respect.  That you make such a big deal out of it says volumes about you and how far you’ll go to attack people… lame attacks that they are.  But it’s obvious you live for doing that, as trolls and bullies do.

Let’s see how long your ignoring me lasts this time.  I predict it won’t be long before you break your word a fourth time.

I've learned that people who always talk about ignoring posts don't actually plan to ignore them. It's just a pathetic bullying technique. Call their bluff every time.

The people who actually ignore your posts are those who don't feel the need to talk about it. They place you on ignore and actually don't reply to any posts. Those are people who actually want to ignore your posts, and not just say it in public as a form of insult and/or bullying.

Lol at anyone belittling someone for using another device to browse TER.

...with another device because CDL has NO CLUE about posting with an iPad.  CDL has admitted many times that he is an "older guy" who is not "tech-savvy."  He brags about how he has a vast army of IT guys in his incredibly successful business who help him with the "tech stuff."

LOL

I bet cdl forgot that little tidbit about aliases and vip.

Also, to comment on other posts... while you can't block an alias posts you can block an alias pms by ignoring the primary account.

Forgive my ignorance, but what do you mean by "alias"?
.
To be clear, I know the definition of alias -- I'm just not sure what it means in the context of this site.  Aren't all of our user names aliases, meaning they're not our real names and mask our identities.  Do VIP members have the option of displaying something other than their primary user name, so that they could post under multiple names?
.
Also, how can you tell "Steve_Trevor" is an alias (rather than his primary user name) just by looking at it?

the purpose of an alias is to disassociate the writer from his/her posts under his/her handle, for a variety of reasons. It can also do the same thing for his/her reviews because you can review under your handle or alias and post here with the other. Lots of reasons for doing that.

Steve_Trevor186 reads

in TER:  aliases appear in grey on their posts, and handles (ie user names) in black.

So in all the years I've been in and out of this site, I may have used the "Like" buttons maybe 3-4 times on a reviews I found to be more funny, then informational.
But one lady, did tell me that a review I did of one of our rendezvous had 19 likes....So I thought that was cool.

It would be great to have a Don't Like button!
A lot of reviews need to be shown that they are just no good, with the spelling, grammar and content being way below the level of a 4th grader!
And I do need to apologize to 4th graders, I had to show some level these reviews can be at.
I do like the like buttons; you can show your appreciation for a review that is informative, entertaining and maybe has some humor in it!

I see the likes and (at least when I had VIP) I would at times wonder just why some were given. I suspect some may even like a review even when they think it's BS just for the entertainment value.

A BS button, as with the Like option, is a tool that will be both used and misused so not sure we gain too much there other than the increase in flaming throughout the TER ecosystem.

One can certainly discuss any given review in the forums but that lack any connection to the review so becomes perhaps less transparent a way for community level assessment of reviews. While not as simple to implement, but not really all that hard either, perhaps updating the DB with some features that would allow discussion board threads specifically about a review -- and then a link on those reviews that give a list of discussions to peruse -- might be more revealing. But might just end up with a bunch of threads with garbage flames and of little value too.

I do like the idea of perhaps having a rate the reviewer function (pretty sure I even suggested that in the S&P board) so those looking through the reviews could also see how the reviewer is rated by peers. Again, how people use that would determine what value to others it would have -- core problem with TER or any other "commons" -- always depends on how the people involved actually behave.

If the review is really good--(particularly if the provider is someone I've seen and the review captures what I experienced)--I'll drop the reviewer a quick note complimenting his review noting that my experiences were very similar.

I use likes like a compliment. If someone does a great job on a post or review I think they should be thanked .

May be an unpopular opinion, but I have accidentally clicked the like button on posts and reviews that I didn't want to click on.

And there's no way to undo it once you click on it. It's etched in stone for the eternity that is TER db lifetime.

Depending how much you regret the accidental like hit, why not do a post saying, "I didn't wanna' do that"!

I know you can't do that on reviews but send a PM or do a Thread!
That would be a lot of regret!

At least on forum posts, there IS a way to "undo" a like in the form of a reply: "I meant to like X's post but I accidentally clicked the like button on Y's post instead.  I would like to "undo" my like and point out why. ..."
.
Likewise, you can both like a forum post AND post a reply to emphasize why. E.g., "impposter always makes such polite and helpful posts that I just had to give it a like. He shares his knowledge freely, and his great sense of humor and his humility are to be admired by all. Thank you, imp." :-)

It isn't as easy to unlike a liked review. In the meantime, be careful with your itchy trigger finger.

I was just putting out options.
That's why I said you would have to have a lot of regret to go that far and trouble yourself!

(long since banned) who took on a messianic mission to change the board to fit his own personal standards. He suggested to TER that it create a "Dislike" button so he could disapprove of posts he didn't like that way. He was broadly ridiculed and TER ignored his suggestion.
I wonder where he is now?

I hope he is happily married. He wasn't cut out for this life..

He got upset at me one time because I called a provider cute. By his own worldview, cute should only be reserved for babies or kids, and should not be used when referring to grown ups. I didn't know that LOL.. What do I know? I am not even a native English speaker. lmao.

He would incessantly PM you take down your posts if they didn't fit his definition of what is appropriate and what's not.

He was also useful as a counter-intuitive indicator. Pretty much no matter what he said, you couldn't go far wrong assuming whatever was 180 opposite was true.
Many described him as the gift that keeps on giving. I used to refer to him as....

Not only do I find certain (adult) women cute, there are specific attributes a woman might have that are cute, such as smile, dimples, eyes, glasses, nose, face, ears, mole, hairdo, breasts, nipples, body, navel, birthmark, ass, pussy, vulva, labia, clit, feet, toes, clothing, lingerie, gestures, dance moves, sex moves, voice, moans, sense of humor, outlook on life, etc.

You're doing just fine, your English is great, I guess the guy was a bit loony. Lol.
