actually they kinda made my skin crawl when they wanted to strip search my 8 yr old daughter!  They did back off... and later I was musing with my kids... kinda wonder what made them back off, when my son (then 11) said..."Dad, you didn't see the look on your face! You scared them off!"  

while I seriously doubt that- I think that when I asked why they singled out my daughter - they were unable to come up with a legit reason....   and according to my ex... sometimes I talk like a lawyer....

sometimes a  hands on examination is all you need!

I'd be willing to bet that any number of TSA agents has entertained the thought of detaining you.

...consider the flip side.  Some dude walks through and sets off the alarm, after all the normal procedures, he gets the wand and it goes haywire at his crotch.  You're thinking "great, another fan of Spinal Tap", but instead of pulling out a cucumber wrapped in tin foil, the dude tells you he has a Prince Albert stud pierced through his dong.  You can't take his "word" for it, so you have to take him to a private room so that he can drop trou and you can inspect.  Yeah, I think I'll pass.  Besides, did you catch a look at that Texas woman?  Buhhhhhhhhhhh!
