You’ve got to be kidding me. Do you think the Giants would have really “Kept the game close” because the league wanted to? Sure maybe they would have eased up after it was 21-0 or something, but to loose by 3 points? One play and the Giants could have lost. This is football, not wrestling, the games aren’t fixed. What made the game so hard was simply the weather. The same thing could have happened on a grass field in the USA, it made it impossible to threw the ball and guys were falling down a lot.
And Gee, with just under 2 minutes on the game clock and the giants in Miami territory why did he take a knee??? BECAUSE HE COULD!! Why the fuck would you risk player injury on a game that you have already won if you just kneel it down? The Dolphins had no timeouts. Plus as I said before people were sliding all over the place, what if he threw it it was intercepted and run back for a TD? What if they ran it and Jacobs fumbled? Obviously you are nothing more then a gambler who is pissed that this didn’t turn out your way. If not, then you are the dumbest football fan ive ever seen.
Bend over fans. The greedy are going to do it to ya.
Not enough that the ticket holders fund the million dollar babies and the NFL itself, they have to go EURO to get MORE money. I could see Canadians teams coming in but there are none.
Plans to hold games in London and elsewhere are a real slap in the face to the fans. Would you want to see your home town rivalry game played in Paris, London or Berlin?
They tried "American" football once before and it fell on it's ass. And I'm certain that the Brits would really like to see their Rugby championship played in the Silver Dome...right?
(And people ask why I'm not a big time sports fan!)
On either side of the pond it's about money just as the hobby. I am okay so long as the play is equal to the price. Right now, the hobby noses out pro sports for me. I used to buy season tix, but no more. In fact, I told my SO I bought an 11 game package to the NBA so I have a built in night out to hobby during the winter months.
Ticketholders at the stadium were rooting when kickers went on the field and were pretty much quiet at other times. I want to know though is this; where can I get Led Zeppelin tickets?

No, it's not going to compete against soccer, or rugby. I guess they'll keep on trying . . .
I don't see the big deal. They came to Mexico a couple of years ago too and it was just a one time thing. Besides Football isn't going to be sucessful in europe and soccer will always rule football, just as the world cup owns the super bowl in europe and the world.
It's not just one game. I heard that the NFL has committed to 2 regular season games in Europe, per year, for the next 4 years. What pissed me off about the whole thing is that a game that should have been a blowout, ended up being a 3-point game, and a lot of people (including myself) lost bets against the spread. My take is that the league told the Giants organization to keep it a close game to boost interest. It's a bit suspicious when with just under 2 minutes left in the game and the Giants in Miami territory, Eli takes a knee three times in a row to run out the clock. WTF was that?!

Look at the game in London though, they sold out all 90,000 seats in the stadium, and from what the Mayor of London said they could have sold it 9 times over. That tells me that people over there are interested in the game, if you have people interested then why is it so wrong in giving them what they want? In my opinion it’s a smart financial decision, and lets face it, were the Miami Dolphins fans really missing out on much? You are right, it will never be as big as soccer or rugby, but it is obvious that the people in Europe wanted the NFL to play this game there. It was a huge success, and as a big NFL fan I don’t have any problem with them doing it again.
might have paid to not have to see the game.
Having been foolish enough to buy season tickets to the hapless, Vickless, Atlanta Falcons. I can relate.
Actually TV revenue pays most of the bills for an NFL team. Most teams make money before a fan comes thru the turnstiles. The NFL has already been in Europe they had a league there. So it was not unusual for them to play in London. Sports is entertainment and the athletes are entertainers. And I was not forced to watch the game in London the fans still got to see their home teams after the national anthems.
