...that makes me a douchebag, huh.

Not you though - a guy who doesn't own a suit.  A guy who wears a western shirt, cowboy boots and a Stihl hat.  And probably a Case knife in a holster on his belt, right?  I dress like that too - as a lumberjack for Halloween!

You'd be just as much of a douchebag in Beverly Hills where I live as I would in Bumfuck, South Carolina where you live.  Next time, walk a mile in my Cole Haans before you open your yap.

Now I am going to have to burn all my Polo shirts, and yes I have a bunch of them.

Funny, I live in the South as well, but even though I am in the oil business, I rarely dress in "Western Wear" Truth be told, I dress in what I find comfortable, my days of "dressing to impress" ended a long, long time ago. In my business the only guys who wear a suit are the ones still trying to make it, and they are easy to spot, they are the ones "trying too hard" An oil man wearing a suit is a "wannabe" except for the execs at the big firms of course.

I still remember being at Trump Plaza for a New Year's eve party some twenty five years ago, like almost everybody else I was wearing a tux, one of the guys I was with, a very successful oilman worth several hundred million, was at the same table as me dressed in jeans, a polo shirt and a light wind breaker, Everyone from the Hotel President on down, came by to kiss his ass. that's when I figured out that "clothes don't make the man"

Guys, do you generally dress casual or more formal looking when heading to see a provider? I'm not so much referring to whether you dress expensive or cheap, as even a designer t-shirt and jeans can look very sharp.  This is more a question about personal style and preference.

Personally, whenever I book time with a lady I like to make an effort to look very formal and sharp, which usually means putting on one of my nicer suits, shirt and tie. I have this limited edition Paul Smith tie with a logo of a naked lady on the underside that is one of my favorites to wear to hobby.  Even if it's not a dinner date and just one hour in the room, I still dress up.

Ladies, are there certain styles you like to see in your men

Probaly should get one though in case somebody dies or something. I usually go for youthful casual dress what a guy from my neck of the woods might wear on a real date. I'm 34 so no since trying to look older. Always nice blue jeans and a button down shirt. No polo shirts nothing says douchebag like a polo shirt, except maybe a sweater vest in my book unless you're playing golf.  Most of the time I ditch the hat, though I think I pull the hat look off well providing it matches the shirt. I've got a lot of compliments on my orange and blue western shirt when I accessorize it with my orange Stihl chainsaw hat. I usually go sans the hat though. And always brown cowboy boots, I'm in the south so the look lets me blend well. My favorite is probally a pink dress shirt untucked with jeans. The gals always say a real man can wear pink!!!

Things have sure changed toward the casual side over the years. Remember when we had to wear ties to work? Now jeans are acceptable.

I see Taylor's point but many of us don't even get dressed up for work. On those rare occasions that we do, we get the standard " Are you out interviewing today? " response, lol.

Well lawyers wear suits here but only in court. Anyone wearing a suit here will stick out like a sore thumb. The key is to dress to fit in, and look natural.

I also agree with Gambler. If I am going out with the lady (ie dinner date) I will dress up a little (for me that means decent pair of long pants, button shirt, and shoes). If it's a 1 hr BCD date, I feel no need to dress up when the clothes will be off in minutes and stay off.

Now if I am seeing a visiting lady who is somewhat high end, and I assume she doesn't understand the casualness of Hawaii yet, I probably won't show up in shorts and flip flops (we call them "slippahs"  here), but on repeat dates and with local ladies I know, that is very likely how I will show up. If it's an outcall to me, then that's definitely how I will be dressed. Never had a lady complain or refuse to see me for follow up visits. If they do have a problem with my clothes, too bad!

I also expect and many times request the lady to dress casually also, so I am not a hypocrit. I would rather see a lady in a sundress or jeans and a t shirt with no or very little makeup, And sandals flip flops or sneakers

I simply adore the Cranes Pearl White Kid Finish 32lb 100% cotton paper. I find them to be the most stylish of envelopes. There’s just a certain élan about the diaphanous play of light on the luminescent paper that is the perfect palette for the counter point of color from the crisp green currency within.     Oh – and wear whatever makes you comfortable.

A knife holster looks about as ridiculous as one of those redneck wallets on a chain. Usually they are paired together. No disrespect intended, but take you're Cole Haans jeans and stick them up you're ass. I'll stick to my Wranglers and Levi's. you're right though I would stand out in Beverly Hills but I wouldn't live in Cali if ya gave me the whole damn state. It's Fuckstick NC not BumFuck SC. Not much difference I guess though except for the BBQ isn't as good down there.

I was speaking primarily on my area and my experiances. Not talking meeting BP low ends either. Even I have enough sense to know that look wouldn't work in Beverly Hills or New York. Jeez don't be so testy find a nice gal and take care of buisness then you'll feel better.

We all like a nice dressed looking person.

Men like women who dress sexy and are seductive
Women ADORE when a man makes the effort to dress well for their date/meeting.

*Even in everyday dating life, many men do not own a suit nor even a suit coat or nice shoes anymore.

The times have changed.

Women continue to dress and wear makeup, etc.....men have ceased to "turn up the heat"

I guess you can tell what I prefer.

Don't.  Give.  A.  Shit.  Anymore.

I've put in a lot of hours and a lot of years to get to a point where I'm relatively young and yet don't have to punch a time clock or answer to anybody for anything.  I have no bosses to impress.  Futhermore, my internal thermostat is such that if I wear anything as heavy as a suit (even a sport jacket and tie), I'll be a huge blob of sweat within minutes.

I dress for my comfort--which means a lot of t-shirts and shorts.  When it gets really cold, maybe I'll wear a hoodie or baseball jacket--over my t-shirt and shorts (maybe khakis sometimes).

If I'm seeing a provider for the first time, and if we're going to see a show or out for dinner, I can maybe be persuaded to wear a shirt that buttons down the front.

I can't go much beyond that, in general.  I'm buying a service here, the money all spends the same.  Maybe if I was the one being paid I could see my way clear to dressing up.  As it is, my provider is just going to have to imagine her dream Armani male model while she's attempting to show me a good time..

Only thing I have to differ with you on is the ball cap... I hate hats, but if I wear one, it's a 20x beaver... gotta love them beavers :)

Like Gambler says, clothes don't make the man... you walk in like you own heaven and earth and have the mortgage on hell and you can wear your fucking bvds'

I'd love to wear a suit, but I don't even know if mine fits anymore. Last funeral was three years ago. I've thought about buying another just for hobbying, but that's the price of two to three hours of provider time.

So, for me it's a dress shirt, casual pants and nice shoes or boots.

I gave up the Cole Haans years ago.  I often hobby on business trips and sometimes show up in a suit and tie. The suit thing usually goes over well, especially when I ask for help getting undressed,  many providers have never had a client show up in a suit in the middle of the day.

Found a couple nice ones that suited me at Gap even though I hate the mall.  I've only got one shirt I would consider "western" the rest I would say are casual badass. Like ya said, it's not the threads and I've also found that its not always how good looking a fella is,  it's all in the attitude and how ya treat her.
