Is making a home movie and putting on the internet qualify you to have the title of Porn Star?  Does bareback full service qualify you as a Porn Star? Does having a website and 1 or 2 minute film clips qualify you as a Porn Star? Making a few DVD's qualify you?
I'm really confused..i always thought Jenna Jamison, or other BIG names like her are "REAL" Porn Stars...In your opinion Hobbyists and Providers what qualifies a girl to consider herself to be a Porn Star. or another example is when a girl lists herself as a Playboy Bunny, or Penthouse Pet..has she really been in either magazine? does she give the month and year her pics were published?  or is that just a self description.  I'm really curious about this.
Can anyone share some insight?

Hi LadyJayLa,

i kind of envision it as some things that go a few steps further than a normal GFI... possibly a bit of greek or possibly some dirty talk

I would set my thought on claim to fame.  What is the person known for by the public and friends alike.

You have celebrties that have gotten paid to pose nude, I would not consider them porn stars.  You have those like Pammela Anderson and Paris Hilton that have videos out, I would not consider them porn stars.

If someone makes their living in the adult industry for any length of time I would consider them a porn star.  You create websites or movies online or otherwise.  If the adult industry is your life it is probably the best I can assume to be a porn star.

A lady that lives the hobby would be considered a porn star in my eyes.  A lady that has a full time civvie life and does the hobby for fun when time permits, probably not a porn star.

Let me make myself clear here and I hope i'm not mis-understanding your last sentence, I was not..let me repeat myeself..was not refering to me in the least..I DO have a civvie life as you refer too and do the Provider thing for fun and pleasure..but I was NOT thinking I was in anyway way shape or form a Porn Star...It has always been a question to me as to what makes girls here or on any site think they qualify for that title.

To me there's a difference between someone who appeared in a porn movie and a porn star.  A porn star has name recognition and a following.  She generally has a nice body of work, which could include a lot of titles or a few movies that really blew people away and rocketed her to stardom.

That's my definition.  But the term is used more genericly in provider ads.

I completely agree with your definition.  There is a difference between a porn star and a porn actress.  One movie or a couple of website clips does not make a star in my opinion.

Of course this question is somewhat subjective so everyone will have a slightly different opinion.

- she is listed by name on more than a few DVD covers.
- DVDs are marketed with her name.
- she is listed on freeones.com, porneskimo.com or similar sites.

Of course, as others have mentioned, "star" is used very loosely in the porn business.  True porn stars will have more written about them than just a listing of box covers (a Wikipedia article, for example).  Christy Canyon, Anna Malle, Amy Ried, Tory Lane were/are true porn stars.  Random babes who get it on in a van for Back Seat Bangers are not porn stars.

For the guys, there's a more practical definition.  If she is represented by Body Miracle, Pamela Peaks or similar agency and if she charges over $1,000/hour she's a porn star.  If not, not.

Porn Star is a generally over used term that is used to describe performers that do porn. Since most performers don't last more than two years they are not what I would call a Porn Star. To me a person has to have at least 50 scenes and some level of popularity. Jenna Jameson, Tera Patrick, Sasha Grey, Bree Olsen and others can claim the star level.

likes sex fast and passionate with a non-stop go for it mentality including lots of positions, lots of activity, etc.   The opposite affect would be a GFE experience which to me is slow paced TLC love making.

A Porn Star is a performer who has made at least 30 or more films, for a major production company and recently now we must include major websites.

A Porn Star is a performer who gets top dollars for their performances, and turn in top drawer performances.

A Porn star has a fan base, an agent, a publicist, an official web site, a prodcut out on the market ie; toy, t shirts, etc.

A Porn Star is like a mainstream star, always classy, always professional, always in demand, and always on top of her or his game.
