The power of the internet?

We all know the power of the Internet and what we can do on it.

Just the other day I was hungry and horny so I went to a pizza joint web site and order me a pizza, then I fund a provider to stop by my house to help me eat the pizza. I did all of this with out leaving my house, took care of two needs of my all in one hour.

Back before the internet the only way a guy could find a lady is to drive to a local street corner to find a lady to help him out, pick up a pizza on his way home. Any old timers on here if I am wrong please let me know if I am wrong about finding a lady of the night.

I am wondering if we did not have the Internet now, how many of us would be around in this hobby? It does make life easier for both parties in this hobby. I would also like to know on how many ladies would be in this hobby, if they still had to stand on a street corner?

Input and your honesty would be appreciated.

I know I would not be in this hobby if I had to go find a provider standing a street corner.

Thank yo

I suspect only a few on these boards would be standing on the street. I suspect most would either not be doing this or living up the the old name "Call Girl".

At least that's my guess.

Just before the internet became what it is today.

And in the 90's the ads in the phone books exploded.

and someone had torn our all the pages with the massage ads.

Talk about cock blocking.

I called down to the maid service however and they brought up and nice fresh copy.

There was a system worked out, as we were not clueless, bcd then. There were a lot more options than now, I think.  You would find your risk comfort level and type of experience.

1. There's the proverbial little black book.  Friends of like proclivity would share names and numbers. You'd get on the pay phone at your bar, or at home if alone, and set up a date.  I had a couple of regulars who kept very nice incalls, better than hotels, I think.  Usually an efficiency, but definitely cozier, and better set up.  One lady had an incall on the west side of Center City, parking was always easy to find.  She decorated the place seasonally.  I remember many a tryst with Christmas twinkle lights!  She also had freshly laundered robes, new wrapped toothbrushes and combs and slippers, etc. Between appointments,  she read the WJS and invested.  We used to talk about this, then one day, poof, she was gone.
2. There were many more brothels, at different level.  I frequented a couple of favorites, with Joy's Companions being my go-to place.  It's still around.  Essentially Joy curated the ladies that worked for her, she liked pretty spinners. When you called she would recommend someone.  If you had a fave, she would make sure she was there.  If you wanted something new, you could get the parade, usually 3-4 ladies would introduce themselves for your perusal and delectation.  Again, showers, towels, you'd be offered a drink.  Very civilized.
3.  There were walk-in brothels for the more adventurous.  Somewhere on the boards was asked the question why there were only Asian AMPs.  Back in the day that was not true.
4.  There were the ads in the underground paper.  The ads were for individuals but also agencies.  They operated like brothels, but moved around different locations to avoid LE.
5. SW's always out there, too.
6.  The bar scene was another venue. Catch Elizabeth Taylor in "Call Butterfield 8" or Audrey Hepburn in "Breakfast at Tiffany's".  Certain bars like the Happy Rooster in Philly were great cruising grounds!

So there you are, a trip down memory lane.

...until about mid-2013 (both still have adult services sections (print and online))

....and yes the ladies would still be practicing their trade without it and we would still be after them. I am pre internet and I actually did see a streetwalker. I am not quite sure who picked who!

i am too shy to talk in person to cute older gentlemen

and it is too f...cking cold up here in Boston to walk the streets this time of the ye

find entertaining ladies. The ladies would approach you and then it was a negotiation to determine the $ before she would tell you which hotel and room # to meet her. There were also strip clubs where the ladies would gladly accept extra cash for either going into the VIP area or sometimes even leaving the club to take care of you.

Things are much easier now in terms of knowing what type of experience you should be getting (reading reviews) as well as being much more safe (again, reading reviews). More so, believing what you read. If is says "Rip Off'--stay the f away.

That escorts and agencies advertised in papers and phone books at one point.  I would have worked as an escort without the internet (effectively, how I operate now when not touring), but I would never have taken to the street.

I knew about the hobby and escort services back in the days before the internet, but I never took the plunge, since I felt there was too much risk involved.  So, I opted for the legal route in ca. 2000 and started visiting the Nevada brothels.

Although as the internet became more popular for the hobby, I discovered TER and it opened up a whole new world.  Heaven forbid if the internet never existed, but I would have probably just continued visiting the NV brothels.

In sex shops they were advertising papers That advertised the Bars and clubs . In the back they were adds for lady's !

What do you find wrong with this question?

When I first started a guy I did business with told me about agencies. You just called them up talked to a madam and a girl would call you back within 30 minutes. No references, no E mail tag and no RESTRICTED sex. It really was like having sex in the civilian world.

The lower end girls were either on the streets or in massage parlors. No condoms were used until the Magic Johnson scare of 1991. I stopped seeing hookers when they went to condoms. I only came back to it when my sex life with the wife went south.

On the internet a crack addicted street whore can put up a nice ad and pretend to be a high class call girl. Then the screening hassles and restrictions on sex make internet mongering far less satisfying than the days when you just called an upscale agency to get a quality girl who would do almost anything

and with the reviews, bad apples can be avoided.

It's a bit sad in a way.  I know a handful of gals I met in the MP and newspaper days, and they always talk about getting a computer and going on line, but never do.  I guess it's true about teaching old dogs new tricks.  (Not that they are dogs, but you know what I mean.)

Bad Apples did not work for the upscale agencies. You don't need reviews when the girls are required to perform unrestricted sex or go work the track.

I probably would've been too scared. One of the reasons I see escorts is cause this Australian escort I followed on Twitter seemed cool, liked her job , so that at least humanized escorts and sex work for me.

I wonder how many guys first decided to take the plunge with pro companionship because of twitter?

How did you find the Aussie escort?

My friend K(name redacted) said that she was a good follow and told me to follow her. As far as I know, my friend has never used an escort so I'm not sure how he stumbled across her profile. But she was beautiful, smart, funny and seemed to enjoy what she was doing. I'm "out" to my friend and I assume he would give me the same courtesy if he saw escorts as well.

She retired, but I said always said that if she ever did a US tour, that I'd set up an appointment and most of our time spent would be us trying to freestyle and us drinking shower beers (she loved hiphop and showerbeer). Sadly that never happened.

2 of the providers I've seen have been basically because of Twitter(2 out of 6, 33% it's a big deal for me). Found their profiles randomly, they had nice pictures, they were in my budget and they toured DC. There's 2 other providers from Twitter that I really want to see, but they are above my budget. Not sure if I'm going to increase my budget just for them or if I'll go without

Back in the 50s there were still whore houses outside Chicago, $5 straight fuck, $10 half and half.  60s and 70s streetwalkers, but that was before aids and there were some hot chicks.  80's and 90's came the yellow pages for models, escorts, etc, along with the massage parlors.  And then finally came the 2 greatest inventions, the internet and cell phones.

The whore house era was the greatest, always open, a choice of girls, no condoms, and reasonable prices.

A couple of these posts remind me of my father and an uncle who used to say "They just don't make cars like they used to..."  The obvious response to that is "Thank God!!! Cars used to fall apart in the driveway at 60,000 miles!!!"

Anyway, the Internet (and cell phones) have created a separate community of adults seeking each other for NSA adult activity that is almost beyond imagination.  I live in the Southwest, and I can have a date in Boston or Miami or Seattle TONIGHT with a lovely woman who understands exactly what I want.  We know the financial arrangements, the time, and the general location in advance.  I learn approximately what she looks like, what other mongers think of her looks and performance, and her menu while sitting on my couch sipping coffee.

I don't think I could have joined this community back in the bad old days.

But in my younger years, I did a lot of traveling, and whenever I was in a new city, I would check out the yellow pages.  I quickly noticed that escort ads could be found there, and would read through them every time I was in a different place.  I'm sure I would have eventually taken the yellow pages plunge had the internet not come along.

In 1984, I was far younger than I should have been to get started in this industry, but regardless I jumped in feet first and made it my life.

I worked the street, traveling all over, just as pretty much everyone in the industry did. The areas were always sectioned off into "high track" most expensive, best dressed women and "low track", where drug addicts and those who were just trying to survive worked. I worked "low track" to start with, because of my age, and the first thing the other girls taught me was to always use "safes"(condoms). It was made very clear that I would get my ass kicked and be run out of the area if I was ever found to not be using them, for everything including bjs.

I moved to high track after a couple of years (once I got out of the child welfare system). The women who worked "high track" also worked bars, casinos and yellow page agencies in addition to the street. Pimps were far more common (yes, I had one), and the women were expected to put their eggs in every basket available. In the late 80's, providers started placing ads in the newspapers in far greater numbers too.

There were always Asian massage parlors, but they were strictly Asian women and not really considered a part of the world I was involved in.

I built my first website in 1997 and retired as a provider in 1999, when the GFE Experience started being prevalent. I just couldn't bring myself to do anything uncovered.... those girls back in 1984 drilled it into me that you NEVER do anything unprotected.

So that's my little story. ;)

Always,
Gin

During the 1970s, oral was almost always uncovered but "straight" was mostly always covered.  I remember the first time a lady rolled a condom on me for oral, in DC in the mid-1970s, and I thought "who does that?"  Within a year or so, most ladies were doing covered oral, and that trend continued for 5-7 years until oral resumed, for the most part, being uncovered.

When I say "oral," I mean a woman blowing a man.  I don't recall any oral on lady activities until sometime in the mid- to late-1980s.  But I might have been slow in developing.

There must have been a big difference between the street girls and the agency girls. Condoms were "optional" until 1991 in my area.

At the upscale agency level in my (West Coast) area the girls had to maintain a certain weight. They were gone as soon as they looked over 30. They had to be on time too! If they failed to perform you could complain to the agency and they would be fired. There was no need for acronyms since the girls did almost anything you asked.

As I understand it whorehouses. massage parlors and the track were entirely different

Called a telephone book, and that book had a section called the yellow pages. You could actually call and get pizza delivered to your door without leaving your house. You could also call for an escort to be delivered to your house.

Except for two things:

First, all the massage/escort yellow pages were torn out of the book within a couple of weeks after the books were distributed, at least the books that were in public places and motel rooms, etc.

Second, within a couple of months, half of the listings were disconnected because of a visit from Uncle Leo

I'll concede that if you are traveling that the internet is better for that. LEO rarely harassed the agencies in my town.
