What is your preference when contacting a lady?

Do forms seem cold and impersonal or do they make the whole first contact easier?

Forms seem very impersonal to me.  An email is a chance to get a first glimpse at a providers personality.   But I always send my verification info in the first email so that they know they aren't wasting their time.

Because anything in a form will stay in her computer and I don't want my info there, just in case.  I, too, will put some screening info in the email so she can check me out before responding.

It's a shame that I will NEVER get to see any of those ladies because I absolutely REFUSE to use one of those insipid forms. I never have, and I never will fill out one of those forms.

I guess that pretty much answers the question about how I feel about those little forms, doesn't it? Lol

I've had some bad luck with the forms but not all.  Anyway, some ladies must not look at them.  Of course these may be the same ones who never update their web site calendars.  As a result and based on taht plus feedback from others here, no more forms for me

I agree Gambler. Although I have seen many women who ask that you fill out the form. I ignore that request, send an invitation to rendezvous and am usually able to book. Those who reply back demanding I fill out their inane form get ignored. Has worked for me. I generally make initial contact via P411, if she has an ad there. That way she can see a bit about me and choose from my "okays" whomever she might like to contact for a reference. It's not unusual for her to say "Oh, you know so and so? I'd love to see you!"

as cold and impersonal as they may seem, I would feel a bit safer than a random e-mail.

If I do not "PM" I copy and paste my "date-check inquiry" in the subject line.

PM thru boards are best for me.

No one knows how you have your forms set up.  They might be sent directly to your email.  Or maybe they go to someone else who then forwards them to your personal email.  They might go to your ISP's servers or web hosting service and wait for you to download them.  You might have some other kind of arrangement.  A smaller ISP might not have the manpower to maintain NSA-level security and his kid brother can access the servers from the garage or basement and see our info.

I consider most major emails (gmail, yahoo, hotmail, ...) to be subject to certain levels of legal responsibility to maintain privacy and security (except for NSA-snooping, of course) and to have the resources (money) to do so.

I provide the info requested but I use email only

...It's not about personal or impersonal it's I don't know where that form goes/stays. The first time I was confronted with a form (the first time I sought out an independent) my "don't do that" alarm went off. Since then all I've heard from others is "no forms". I prefer e-mail. I will give whatever info is requested by e-mail.

If I were a hacker...I'd target email first.

It's relatively easy to hack gmail and yahoo (not as familiar w/hotmail) by using an automated program to guess passwords. Gmail and yahoo have some optional security measures (i.e. two-step verification), but the majority of users do not take advantage. Just look at the 'I'm stranded in Kenya and need money' and the 'I tried Viagra and it was great!!' emails you get from your aunt, lol.

My contact forms are automatically submitted to a database, and then emailed to me. Nobody sees it besides me, and my form is encrypted (https). I believe that's fairly standard for escort forms. If a database is so vulnerable that a kid can hack it, then the server likely has other problems that would make it an unfit web host...reliability, slowdowns, outdated software or hardware, etc.

To be viable, a web host has to provide a minimum amount of security...imagine hearing about a site's databases getting hacked w/the same regularity as people get those ridiculous spam emails from Aunt Sally!

... such as one provider who's form emails ended up in her spam folder.  It worked out well, she found the email and we booked in an hour.

I usually like to use P411, as riorunner said, and for the same reasons.  Otherwise, I'll use email.

at least that is what I gather.  They make it SOOO much easier for us and it is all necessary info anyway, but they just dont like them.  More experienced hobby guys know the deal, but the newer ones are especially turned off by them.  Mine is still up, but I take requests either way, or by phone, even.

That is a good question that we should ask providers. The underlying question should be for you guys is what format tends to yield the most information that you need in order to make a decision for purposes of verification.  Also one tends to be extremely specific in it's presentation while the other is confined and tailored to extract specific information specified for the purpose of a brief quick shot of information.

Or, at least a quick note included with the form, so that I can get a sense of the guy's personality. I like to exchange at least a few messages, so I'm not just going in cold. And so that there is less chance of an unpleasant surprise...if a dude's an a-hole or a PIA, it will usually show within the first email or two, believe it or not. Only one dude fooled me and he was a VERY experienced hobbyist, so I guess he'd learned to keep his mouth shut during the initial correspondence.

I only direct a guy to the form when he doesn't give me sufficient information. If I ask for references and it's like, 'Well, I saw Sally from Dallas two years ago - not sure how to contact her', I figure that looking at the form will give him a better idea of the information required. If it's all spelled out for him and he STILL can't manage to cough up the info I need...then I'll figure he either won't give it, doesn't respect the reasons for screening (and by extension, me), and/or is dumb as a box of rocks.

sentences so the lady can get an idea of my personality. I give the lady the same information that is requested on the form but it is in a sentence format.

Some guys don't trust forms; where does the data go? Data might be easier to be compromised should it get in the wrong hands.

if it's not broken, don't fix it. :) I do love the personal and warm feeling of an email, I must admit. Just didn't know if I should go more "high tech." lol! I do love when a gent sends a delightful introduction of himself. Email engenders that more than a form would, I imagine, as has been pointed out above.

Thanks again for the feedback!

That's most likely because Auntie's COMPUTER has been hacked with a virus or trojan (not the pre-lubed or ribbed kind, the digital kind) and is sending spam from her email account via her desktop, NOT someone logging in to her account from their desktop in China.  (Yes, the malware could access her email and forward all of it to the Russian Mafia.)

My contact forms are automatically submitted to a database, and then emailed to me. Nobody sees it besides me, and my form is encrypted (https). I believe that's fairly standard for escort forms. But it is implied (or maybe it's explicitly stated) that gmail and others have to take care to protect our privacy or Big Brother or a bunch of class action lawyers will go after them. I have no idea who is running "free_escort_websites dot com" or Bob's Discount Websites.  It could be a couple of teenagers in Akron, OH.

If someone hacks a provider's WEBSITE, what do they get? They can replace her pictures and change her rates or maybe they'd just rather add a second blind-carbon-copy address to her form and get our info that way.

Nothing is perfect, but I'm depending on google and yahoo to protect email better than an unknown form submission

My point was that it's very easy to hack email - trojan, phisher, etc. Your trust in gmail and yahoo (and likely hotmail) is misplaced...the dumbest person on this board could hack that sh**, and I'm not kidding. Most email is only as secure as the user's password...and, most people's passwords aren't complex enough to foil phishing programs. Throwing in some caps/numbers just won't cut it these days. Passwords should look like this: dsfIu#3ce-jf!&$3+q9=\fnKJ

Website hacking can't be done easily. For obvious reasons, it's very difficult for a hacker to access and modify raw files. So not at all likely that some random dude (or trojan) could hack her site and put in some code to send him all her contact forms (unless he works for the NSA, lol). And to completely breach a database, is extremely difficult.

Just kind of puzzling to me the amt of paranoia that goes into these forms...and also puzzling as to why people consider email more secure and private? As I've said, it's not. The 'submit' button potentially submits your information to the whole universe, whether it's a form, or an email. Email being more of a known risk, IMO (altho this argument is largely irrelevant because most forms get sent to email). If you can avoid putting your info out there, do it...just use references.

One more point - emails are forever, even when deleted. But on a site...as far as I know, if a server administrator deletes something from his/her database...it's gone. There might be back-ups, but most web hosts don't keep back-ups for more than a month due to lack of space.

My main point was really that the contact form paranoia really doesn't make much sense to me. Think of this site - TER locks you out for a half hour after too many incorrect login attempts. That's to protect against phishing...Gmail and yahoo do not do that. So I'd trust this messages exchanged on this site to be more secure than yahoo or google email, personally...even tho I don't know who runs this site. But it could be some kid in a basement :)

gmail would be broke. Free accounts do get hacked all the time...and as I said, any dummy can phish a password.

It's against the law to hack an email. So I'm guessing the impetus is on the hacker not to break the law?

Point is, don't expect safety or privacy from ANY email provider unless your password is safe, and you're using all available security options (i.e. two-step verification).
