TER members are a subset of hobbyists, and definitely more professional and informed than most. There's a great wider world out there of scuz balls, newbies, and crude guys. Always will be. You can't control them. Carla's right, all you can control is your own policy, which should be to screen like hell.
(Carla, btw, is one of the most professional and fantastic at this. She screens rigorously, but, oh!, if you are blessed with her attention. Oh my!)
As Lina and Carla have said.....We play safe to experience each other. I consider Lina and Carla Chat friends. However, when I finally get out to meet each of them I expect them to screen me as well. No offense, but that's the way it is! And should be! Providers stick to your guidelines and stay safe.
...So many people think that everything is now back to normal, whatever that is or was. Their myopic view of what happened will be their downfall.
I feel that this whole thing is a seachange for the entire industry/hobby. Women need to screen even more, and men need to be very selective about who they see. Just because this one low-life was caught does not mean that the police (who I am very impressed caught this person quickly), are not going to forget about this whole segment of society.
To quote a great TV show... "Be Careful out there!"
I wish it were so that all TER guys understand the need for screening. Recently, I accompanied my ATF to a TER M&G. She ran into a guy who said he refused to be screened. She was outraged, but I don't think he was the only one.
At the very least, we TER guys should consistently say "screen, screen, screen."
What really scares me is all the information that is being put out by the news media.
There WILL be similar attacks on ladies who don't screen properly (whatever technique a lady thinks is best for her.)
And I would add that taking a self defense course would be high on my list, if I were a lady.
Also, for every first time visitor, have an out. A way to get out of the situation, even if it involves some embarrassment (running into a hallway naked, for example.) At least you'd be alive and unhurt.
I'm sure the experienced ladies can network to protect themselves, but it's hard for the rookie provider to get all the information she needs when first starting out.
I feel very badly that any lady is ever asaulted, let alone murdered. That they have caught the guy is d*mn small consolation.
We get some of our TV from Boston where they had a CL escort & her BF (blacked out) for an interview. The media is making front page news of every new detail. This sort of high profile is going to cause all sorts of on-going trouble for this business... with cops, law makers, hotels, wives. This really s*cks.
Some guys don't want to be screened and there are an ample supply of providers who don't screen. There are providers who screen and there are an ample supply of men who don't mind being screened There is someone for everyone in this hobby. Just deal with the clients you are compatible with. That should be a no brainer for providers and hobbyists alike.
