My sympathy.  I posted this note before I heard of the Monterey Park incident.  This makes me very sad, as I'm familiar with that town, very nice, one of the inner LA 'burbs where I feel I could relax instead of keeping my head on a swivel.

I did not keep track of the Lunar New year falling on Saturday this year .. until the fireworks went off at midnight.

Had I done my planning, I probably could have gotten in invite to a some sort of LNE event, or gotten an extended session with a lonely C-GILF .. sigh.

When I was younger, providers would hang with me OTC, maybe an overlap to what I could draw in the civvy world.

Now, there's probably only one, who's a wonderful person, but at 60+ years old, I just don't feel the draw...

Ten people shot and killed  and ten  others got injured at  a Lunar  event in  CA.

a young civvie Chinese woman 30 years my junior to accompany her to her neighborhood "block party" in Monterey Park, an LA suburb that has about 80% Chinese residents.  I met a lot of new friends, as everyone was curious about the "white guy" and wanted to make sure he wasn't "lost."  Lol

The revelry was subdued for a while when we heard that 10 people were shot at a New Year's celebration less than a mile from where we were.

Alhambra area.  I rented a condo a half block off Main St. with a civvie Chinese girl a few years ago.  I used to be in downtown LA for a week at a time every month on business, and rather than commute back and forth each day to my home in South OC, I would just stay at our condo.  We split the rent and she liked the deal because she mostly had the place to herself and it was a definite step up from where she was living before. For me, my half of the month was no more than a week's worth of downtown LA hotel rooms.  After the first month, we became Friends w/Benefits and that was a positive development as well. I'm sure you know the area if you know MP.  There are good restaurants within walking distance all up and down Main St.
