"Ryan, things in here do not react well to bullets" or something like that.

A great actor and male sex persona from my formative years:

What’s your:
1. Best Sean Connery Bond movie?
2. Best Sean Connery non-Bond movie?
3. Any Bond girl look alike you ever dated - civvie or hobby?

My choices:
1. From Russia with Love (would have been On Her Majesty’s Secret Service - if he acted in it)
2. Untouchables
3. Honey Rider (Dr. No) (civvie)

Just a tidbit: one my atf and I had a ritual: watching all Sean Connery Bond movies together in between cozy and great sex.

Goldfinger

Darby O'Gill and the Little People.  NOT.  I suppose Marne

I should have been so lucky.

I chatted with her some years ago. I thought 'I' was full of myself!

She was in a flower shop in I forget which one. I think it's 'The Spy Who Loved Me'? But yeah, if that's her claim to fame I can go on how I met Woody Harrelson and Juliette Lewis at my favorite watering hole in Albuquerque one night 20 something years ago....

and she claimed that she was down there at the very same time. I "dared her" to prove it and she made all sorts of lame excuses about her multi millionaire benefactor not allowing it, but she later admitted she had NEVER been to Costa Rica and she was just trying to keep up her "image" of a successful hooker when in fact she was living in her car.

Talk about someone both BSC and delusional. lol

That's too bad about her.  I remember a movie quote, "She's got a god damn gold mine between her legs."  If some women weren't so crazy they'd have it made -- life of ease and luxury.

Goldfinger absolutely. Diamonds are Forever and Thunderball are close seconds. I have all of them and Timothy Dalton was a waste of time. George Lazenby was alright. Roger Moore was slightly better, but Sean Connery was the best, then Peirce Brosnan and Daniel Craig cuz of the darkness. Not necessarily his acting but the direction....

1. From Russia With Love for classic cold War espionage.  You Only Live Twice for sheer over the top zaniness.
2. Has to be Untouchables. What else are you going to choose? Zardoz? The Rock? Although Outland had some good moments.
3. Yeah I should be so lucky. The closest might be Pussy Galore. There was this German chick who if you squinted real hard could be close.

Lol! My Honey Rider (Ursula) look alike was a bit of eye squintier too :) but she was hot ... we were both in late 20s ... oh good ol’days ...

My list
1-You Only Live Twice
2-Untouchables
3-Ursula Andress....Playin around while in Vegas...Yes she was a pros
This one hits home

1.   The Name of the Rose
2.   Untouchables
3.   Everything Bond

I would put in The Name of the Rose.

1. Dr. No
2. Time Bandits
3. Plenty O’toole (only because of her name, and she was apparently named after her father)

1) My fave, Thunderball
2) Untouchables
3) i should be so lucky!

1. Thunderball
2. Name of the Rose
3. Domino - civvie (Kim Basinger - hobby)

1. Diamonds are Forever. I love this Bond film! It encapsulates Vegas in its prime when the Mob still controlled it before the corporations ruined it. Connery was beginning to age and he looked fucking cool a little older. The car chase scene in the Vegas Strip where  Bond outfits the idiot cops is classic.

2. Outlander is my favourite non Bond Connery film. It's what a space station out in our solar system is gunna look like.

3. Been out a few times with a girl that comes close to Ursella. Nothing ever came of it.

Oh yeah, that car chase in Las Vegas made history in movie making.
So did the underwater scenes and camera work in Thunderball  - it changed the way Hollywood made underwater movies forever!

“I give us one chance in three.... more tea anyone?”

And I suppose it might not matter generally, but given this is related to his memorial it might be worth noting that Connery hated the Bond character.

He grew tired of the attention that comes with fame. I'm sure that's what made him resent 007. Once you get famous you can't turn it off. It's wonderful at the beginning but over time it gets old and annoying, and your privacy is constantly invaded. Bob Dylan once said, "Obscurity is a blessing."

He got pissed at reporters who didn't know he'd done stage acting before Bond and that he did many roles after. He clearly didn't realize the thing would blow up like it did and limit his career choices for a long time.  He was also pissed that he thought he was underpaid for the role given that every movie made big money. I recall reading that he demanded and got 1 million for Diamonds Are Forever (big money back then) and then promptly donated most of it to a boys' school to prove it wasn't just about the money.

Then again he had an amazing second act starting in the late 80s.

But he was also generally an irascible guy. He said some shit about hitting women that was wrong then and is wrong now.

Perhaps but he said it himself - lol

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sean_Connery:
Although Bond had made him a star, Connery grew tired of the role and the pressure the franchise put on him, saying "[I am] fed up to here with the whole Bond bit"[59] and "I have always hated that damned James Bond. I'd like to kill him".[60] Michael Caine said of the situation, "If you were his friend in these early days you didn't raise the subject of Bond. He was, and is, a much better actor than just playing James Bond, but he became synonymous with Bond. He'd be walking down the street and people would say, "Look, there's James Bond." That was particularly upsetting to him."

But you're right, it is a bit like William Shatner and the Capt. Kirk role. Not really something either started out unhappy about but over time....

Say huh what?

LOL -- yeah, I did a quick double take on that one too.

I'm pretty sure he's saying his answer to Q3 was the girl looked like Kim Basinger and was not a civie date but a working girl.

However, I'm pretty sure Basinger played a hooker, LA Confidential?

In fact she's over at my place right now.

Say Hi Kim.

Hi Kim.

1 Goldfinger and Diamonds Are Forever
2 Hunt For Red October
3 Jill St. John who you wish was your wife, but dated a girl that looked like Kim Basinger in Never Say Never Again back in the 80's

And Kim Bassinger, also pretty old, is nuts? Then again, you did date a 65-year-old hooker, so......

1.  Goldfinger - This one had some great scenes: Odd Job and his hat, the nuke counting down at the end, the US army only pretending to be knocked out by the gas.
2.  Outlander - Gritty sci-fi. Peter Doyle as a great villain.
3.  Not really dated:  more of a Bond-like encounter. I had a sports-car in my mid twenties.  A very pretty gal in a mustang behind me passed me up going like 50-60 on a side street and I was tempted to race her, but literally said to myself "Discipline, 007"  and let it go.   A mile up the road, a cop nailed her.

The chase scene in the Aston Martin has to be the best.

Thanks for the correction! I also goofed.

You are correct, ditto thanks on the correction!

“nailed” ;) her ?? Lol!!! Just playing ...

Ah, the Diamonds Are Forever layout in Playboy.  Lana Wood in her prime, fantastic boobs.  Came of age then. Came of some other stuff to.

remember the house for the scene in Diamonds are forever with Bambi & Thumper.    in the 90s client of mine owned that house, i was part of team that restored it to glory.    was pretty cool to be there.      oh it is in Palm Springs ... not Las Vegas ..  ahh movie magic !

1. Thunderball
2. Hunt for Red October
3.  Luciana Paluzzi -- We should all be taken for a ride

Actually this is the coolest deal I've seen in a long time! Not political. Just appreciation for an actor that made an impact on some of our lives. Art. It's so under appreciated until you're worm food....

Sir Sean Connery IS, not was, a treasure. The man was class. Some would say he was a misonygist(?)

The fact of the matter is he was a man's man. You didn't have to apologize for being so like so many pussies now adays...

You could drink and smoke and not apologize. And still live to be 80....!

All you all's are a bunch of pussies!

1) You Only Live Twice
2) The Molly MacGuires/The Untouchables(a tie)
3)  ...still colating data, sorry
